Birdies, Eagles & Big Hearts: €170k Raised at Amgen Irish Open

If ever there was proof that golf can be about more than just low scores and long drives, the 2025 Amgen Irish Open Make-A-Wish Ireland partnership delivered it in spades. Over €170,000 was raised for the charity during the week at the K Club, with the 18th hole alone turning into a cash register for good deeds.

The Birdies for Wishes campaign saw pros rack up 248 birdies and 26 eagles on the Palmer North Course’s finisher, each one worth €300 courtesy of Amgen and the DP World Tour. By Sunday evening, that came to a tidy €82,200—proof that when golfers get hot with the putter, children across Ireland stand to benefit.

Ambassadors Dig Deep

Amgen’s Irish ambassadors—Pádraig Harrington, Shane Lowry and Séamus Power—didn’t just show up for photo ops. The trio pledged €500 per birdie and €1,000 per eagle from their own scorecards, donating €13,000 between them. As if carrying the weight of a nation wasn’t enough, they added the weight of generosity to the load.

A Community Effort

Charity wasn’t just left to the players. Fans chipped in through contactless donations, cash buckets, and the ever-popular Mega-Putt Challenge, raising more than €36,000 on site.

Amgen also turned Super Saturday into a St Patrick’s Day warm-up, pledging €2 for every fan wearing green—worth another €12,800. Add in an interactive fan game, a pre-tournament four-ball auction, and the Amgen staff Walk for Wishes challenge, and the tally kept climbing.

By the time the final putt dropped, the total had soared past €170,000 for Amgen Irish Open Make-A-Wish Ireland initiatives.

Lowry’s Touch of Magic

Beyond the numbers, there was a moment that will linger longer than any leaderboard. Shane Lowry, the 2019 Open Champion, granted 11-year-old Dáire Coyle his wish on site at the K Club. It wasn’t televised glory or another major title—it was something better: a memory for a lifetime.

Voices From the Heart

Paul Greene, VP, Site Operations at Amgen, said: “It has been another unforgettable week at the Amgen Irish Open, and we are honoured to stand alongside Make-A-Wish Ireland as their work continues to bring joy and hope to children and families.

The incredible generosity shown by players, fans and our partners has helped raise significant funds that will make a very real difference in the lives of children facing serious illness.

We are deeply grateful to our Amgen Ambassadors—Shane Lowry, Pádraig Harrington and Séamus Power—whose passion and commitment continue to inspire, and to everyone who contributed to this meaningful cause.”

Susan McQuaid O’Dwyer, CEO of Make-A-Wish Ireland, added: “Over the past three years at the Amgen Irish Open we see the true magic of wishes come to life, and this year was no different.

Having Shane Lowry grant Dáire’s wish here at the K Club is a moment Dáire and his family will treasure forever. We are so grateful to Amgen, the DP World Tour, and the players for their generosity and commitment in helping us bring hope, strength and joy to children living with critical illnesses.

“Beyond this, the Amgen Irish Open offers an invaluable platform to raise awareness and funds, with our wonderful volunteers on site over the five days and we will ensure that every donation given helps us reach more children who need the power of a wish.”

And from the DP World Tour side, Championship Director Paul Gillmon said: “The return of the Amgen Irish Open to the K Club was an overwhelming success and we are delighted to see a significant amount of money raised for Make-A-Wish Ireland across the week.

“The contributions made by Title Partner Amgen, their Ambassadors Pádraig, Séamus and Shane, and the thousands of spectators who donated in the Tournament Village will make a huge difference to the lives of children living with life-threatening conditions.

“We saw first-hand the incredible impact Make-A-Wish Ireland can have when Shane made a wish come true and we are incredibly humbled to have the opportunity to contribute to Make-A-Wish Ireland’s truly special work.”

More Than a Tournament

The Amgen Irish Open Make-A-Wish Ireland partnership once again proved that golf is at its best when it reaches beyond the ropes. Putts dropped, pockets opened, and wishes were granted.

For the children who’ll benefit, it wasn’t about who lifted the trophy—it was about hope, strength, and joy.
