The Hyundai Open finally burst into life at Ebotse Links after two days of rain delays, and Casey Jarvis wasted no time making his mark. The 20-year-old South African stormed into the lead with a breathtaking second-round 63, setting the pace at 14-under-par as play resumed under clearer skies on Saturday.
Jarvis, who has come agonisingly close to victory on multiple occasions this season, looked like a man on a mission. His seven-under round featured a blistering front nine of 29, and despite a lone bogey on the 11th, he ended the day with confidence and control.
“I played solid golf and hit some good shots. I unfortunately got punished at the 11th hole with that bogey, but I can’t dwell too long on the negatives. I’ve hit the ball really nicely today, so there are lots of positives heading into the third round,” Jarvis said.

His round gave him a one-stroke lead over Nikhil Rama, who matched the day’s fireworks with a 64 to sit at 13-under. Warwick Purchase wasn’t far behind either, signing for a 65 to reach 12-under as the leaderboard tightened heading into the weekend’s action.
When play rolled into the third round of the Hyundai Open, Jarvis showed no sign of slowing down—opening with a birdie on the first to move to 15-under before darkness called time on proceedings. Rama stayed steady with a par start, while Purchase did the same to remain within striking distance.
The stage is now set for a dramatic Sunday at Ebotse Links, with the completion of the third round to be followed immediately by the final stretch. For Jarvis, it’s another chance to turn consistency into a long-awaited breakthrough.
Still chasing his maiden Sunshine Tour title after four runner-up finishes, the former HotelPlanner Tour winner knows exactly what’s at stake.
“It’s tough to win out here, but I will just try and stay patient tomorrow and see what I can do,” he said after completing his lone hole in the third round.
As the Hyundai Open heads for its climax, Jarvis stands on the brink of his first professional triumph — and if his current form holds, the wait might finally be over.
