Dave Lawlor Crowned 2025 England Golf Seniors Series Champion at Woodhall Spa

There’s a fine line between composure and chaos in golf — and on a blustery Lincolnshire afternoon, Dave Lawlor walked it like a man who’s been there before.

The Stockwood Park stalwart claimed the 2025 England Golf Seniors Series title, sponsored by Insured Health, after amassing 68 points across two nerve-jangling rounds at Woodhall Spa Golf Club.

The Bedfordshire golfer made his mark early on the legendary Hotchkin Course, carding eight pars for 38 points on Monday before holding firm with another eight pars for 30 points on the Bracken Course the following day. It wasn’t flashy, but it was enough — and in golf, “enough” is often all that matters.

Just one point back, Bhogilal Hirani (Sand Martins) and George Sheriff (Haste Hill) shared the runner-up honours on 67 points, while Philip Tiddy (Enfield) took fourth with 66.

After clinching the England Golf Seniors Series crown, an emotional Lawlor said:

“It’s amazing, it’s the biggest achievement of my life in golf so far.

I wasn’t so nervous teeing off but coming down the finish, it was really nerve-wracking! I didn’t really know where I was at, I knew I was doing okay but I was just thinking that I needed 32 points.

It was definitely the most nervous I’ve been on a golf course. My playing partners were fantastic and kept me going.

At score recording, when they told me I’d won it, there were tears in my eyes. To come out on top when well over a thousand players have competed in the Senior Series this year, it’s just fantastic.

The whole atmosphere, the way it’s all ran, it’s brilliant. Everybody has got to know everyone and we’re all friends, it’s like a big golf society and it’s incredible.

I’m going to celebrate by rushing home and watching my grandson play football!”

It’s the sort of triumph that captures what the England Golf Seniors Series is all about — camaraderie, competition, and the simple joy of proving you’ve still got it.

With over a thousand entrants across the season, lifting the title isn’t just about good golf; it’s about nerve, consistency, and the quiet fire that keeps players like Lawlor chasing fairways long after most have hung up the spikes.

For golfers tempted to test their mettle in 2026, England Golf promises another season of top-class venues, spirited competition, and stories like Lawlor’s that remind us — golf doesn’t get old; it just gets better.
