Ice-Cold Under Fire: Kupcho’s 14th-Hole Eagle Delivers $1M Aon Payday

The Aon Risk Reward Challenge reached a boiling point at The ANNIKA, and Jennifer Kupcho walked straight through the fire. The Aon Risk Reward Challenge has produced its share of drama over the years, but nothing quite like the late-season charge Kupcho uncorked to steal the 2025 title, the trophy and the $1 million cheque in one ruthless swoop.

Kupcho didn’t sneak in the back door; she barged in with a birdie-eagle combination on the par-5 14th that will go down as one of the sharpest finishing punches the LPGA Tour has seen in years. Entering the week behind the leaders, she refused to blink. She attacked the final Challenge hole in two, trusted her nerve, and let the rest of the field choke on her dust.

“I’m honoured to win the Aon Risk Reward Challenge and to be recognised for the strategy and decision-making that goes into every round,” said Kupcho. “It’s an incredible feeling to join the list of past champions and to know that my performance this season reflects the values this challenge celebrates.”

This wasn’t luck. It was the culmination of a season in which Kupcho showed the kind of grit and clarity that separates contenders from champions. She’s built her career on distance, precision and enough competitive steel to make a blacksmith nod in approval. Since joining the LPGA Tour in 2019 — and announcing herself with that breakthrough Chevron Championship win — Kupcho has developed a reputation for striking when others wilt.

Her numbers across the Challenge this season tell the same story. Kupcho went for the green on designated holes 68% of the time, the fifth-highest rate on tour, and landed those gambles at a 33% success clip — second-best on the LPGA. On par-4 Challenge holes, she was a menace, leading the Tour in both aggression (58% go-for-green rate) and execution (33% success).

Backed by a 271.6-yard driving average and ranking third in strokes gained off the tee on Challenge par 4s (+0.19 per hole), she put herself in position to attack. Her touch around the greens — ninth in strokes gained (+0.13 per hole) — meant she rarely wasted a chance. In short, Kupcho didn’t just win this thing; she out-thought, out-hit, and out-played the room.

“At Aon, we help clients make better decisions by championing strategic thinking and resilience—qualities that are at the heart of the Aon Risk Reward Challenge,” said Jennifer Bell, Executive Chair of North America at Aon. “Our partnership with the LPGA reflects our commitment to supporting excellence and growth, both in business and in the women’s game. Congratulations to Jennifer on this outstanding achievement. We’re proud to celebrate her success and to continue advancing the future of women’s golf together.”

LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler didn’t sugar-coat what Kupcho’s run meant to the Tour either. “Jennifer’s finish at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican was everything this award is meant to celebrate. The eagle on 14 on Friday wasn’t just great golf — it was bold, smart, fearless decision-making in a big moment,” he said.

“Jennifer has a long history of rising to the occasion, and seeing her step up with that kind of conviction to clinch the Aon Risk Reward title was truly special. We’re thrilled for her, and proud to recognise a player whose shot-making and strategy continue to elevate our game.”

Kupcho now joins an elite roll call of past winners: Carlota Ciganda, Hannah Green, Minjee Lee, Angel Yin and Jeeno Thitikul. Not bad company — and fitting for a player who’s never been shy about swinging for the horizon.

Aon and the LPGA have spent years pushing strategic thinking in golf to the forefront. Kupcho’s win proves exactly why the partnership resonates: when the stakes rise, the game gets better.
