John Parry Set to Defend AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open Crown at La Réserve

Englishman John Parry will be back in paradise this December, teeing it up to defend his AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title when the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour co-sanctioned event returns to La Réserve Golf Links at Heritage Resorts from 18–21 December.

Parry’s victory last year was no ordinary week at the office. He outlasted South Africa’s Dylan Naidoo and amateur sensation Christo Lamprecht by two strokes at Mont Choisy Le Golf in 2024, a win that also delivered him the DP World Tour’s Opening Swing crown. This December, he has the chance to make history as the first man to successfully defend the tournament.

“I’m excited to return to the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open to try and defend my title. I have such good memories of Mauritius. The win was a major confidence boost for me in my career, and then to win the Opening Swing as well was a welcome bonus.

And on top of this, the victory came on the day of my wedding anniversary. So Mauritius really holds fond memories for me and I’m looking forward to going back there,” said Parry.

PGA TOUR Card in Sight

For John Parry, the story doesn’t end with tropical sunsets and wedding anniversaries. That Mauritius win lit a fire under his career. Now ranked eighth in the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai, he’s on the cusp of a PGA TOUR card for 2026. Hold steady in the top 10 and the Englishman will punch his ticket to golf’s biggest stage.

Siem’s Homecoming

Parry won’t be the only headline act. Germany’s Marcel Siem, ambassador for Heritage Golf Club, has confirmed his spot in the field. Siem, a veteran of the event with five appearances, relishes the battle against La Réserve’s stiff breezes and devilish shot-making demands.

“They’ve done a fantastic job with this golf course. It’s a tough test. You have to hit some good shots there, especially when the wind blows. The fairways and greens are really good, and there are some really tough holes out there,” Siem said.

More Than Just a Tournament

The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open has become far more than just a golf tournament. In under a decade, it’s grown into a heavyweight on the DP World Tour calendar. Last year alone, it pumped a record US$4.2 million into the Mauritian economy.

It has also proved a launchpad for stars. Rasmus Højgaard claimed his maiden DP World Tour victory here before making his Ryder Cup debut. Dylan Naidoo and Christo Lamprecht, both runners-up last year, have since broken through with wins on the DP World Tour and Korn Ferry Tour.

Looking Ahead

From Major winners to Ryder Cup veterans, the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open continues to attract world-class names while shaping the careers of future champions.

For Parry, December offers a shot at history, a defence of his crown, and perhaps the final push towards that long-awaited PGA TOUR card.
