LIV Stars Set to Ignite the Link Hong Kong Open

Thirty-one LIV Golf players are heading to Link Hong Kong this month, turning the historic Hong Kong Golf Club into the stage for one of the fiercest fields in the tournament’s 64-year history.

With ranking points, Masters and Open spots, and LIV roster places up for grabs, the seventh event of The International Series has become a must-play battleground.

A formidable line-up of major champions and LIV stalwarts will descend on Fanling. Patrick Reed (4Aces GC), Bubba Watson (RangeGoats GC), Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel (both Stinger GC), and Martin Kaymer (Cleeks GC) headline a stacked cast. Four-time LIV Golf champion Talor Gooch (Smash GC) joins the charge alongside Harold Varner III and Thomas Pieters (4Aces GC), Dean Burmester (Stinger GC), Tom McKibbin (Legion XIII) and Peter Uihlein (RangeGoats GC).

Adding local flavour to Link Hong Kong are past Hong Kong Open champion Ben Campbell (RangeGoats GC) and two-time winner Wade Ormsby, fresh off his Jakarta International Championship triumph earlier in October. It’s a line-up that blends pedigree with firepower — fitting for Hong Kong’s oldest professional sporting event.

Beyond the prize fund, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The winner will earn a prized tee time at the 2026 Masters and the 154th Open Championship, while valuable ranking points are on offer for players chasing a spot on next season’s LIV Golf roster.

For Gooch, it’s also personal. He lifted the LIV Golf Singapore trophy in 2023, but Fanling remains unfinished business after a best finish of T21 at LIV Golf Hong Kong in 2024.

“It’s not my first time in Hong Kong, but I’m excited to be coming back to such a great course and such a great tournament,” Gooch said. “Of course, the Masters and Open places are a motivation too, but I love Hong Kong, the food, the culture, all of it.”

Harold Varner III is another familiar face at Link Hong Kong, returning after finishing 22nd in the 2025 LIV Golf standings. His only International Series appearance this season came in India, but his record at Fanling includes a T8 finish in 2023.

Varner called the city “a special place with great golf and better people”.

“I’m excited for the challenge against a lot of good players, a lot of good friends, and on a course I love,” he said. “The International Series is a great opportunity for players to earn their way into LIV Golf, and the level of competition will be outstanding with so many great players coming over.”

While the stars grab the headlines, the rankings race adds extra spice. Scott Vincent leads the way after his runner-up finish in Jakarta, but Lucas Herbert (Ripper GC) and Carlos Ortiz (Torque GC) are in hot pursuit with two big stops — the Philippines and Link Hong Kong — still to play this October.

True to the event’s theme, “Open For All,” the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday are free for fans. Weekend passes are HK$300, or HK$200 per day, and spectators aged 18 and under get free entry across all four days when accompanied by a ticketed adult or with valid photo ID.

Tickets can be purchased via ticketflap.com/lhko2025, and further details are available at thehongkongopen.com.

With a field this stacked, a historic venue, and major championship berths on the line, the Link Hong Kong Open promises a showdown worth watching.
