Home Hero! Ruixin Liu Seals Aramco China in Style

Ruixin Liu delivered a masterclass in composure and control to capture the Aramco China Championship, sealing a three-shot victory at 16-under-par and securing her first Ladies European Tour (LET) title in front of adoring home fans at the legendary Mission Hills Golf Club.

The 29-year-old Shenzhen native was unflappable all week, firing rounds of 70, 65, and 68 in front of record-breaking crowds at the final PIF Global Series event of the season. Her calm precision and unwavering poise made for an unforgettable homecoming performance.

“It’s very special, and I’m really happy – I grew up here, and I haven’t played a professional event in Shenzhen since turning pro,” Liu said after her victory. “To do so and win the trophy on my first try gives me a lot of confidence moving forward!

“It’s very pleasant – the whole setup is impressive. This course is playing very tough; it’s not short, and it’s a very challenging layout. Huge credit to the entire Mission Hills team and Golf Saudi for working together. In the future, if I have the chance, I’d love to play more PIF Global Series events.”

A Star Rises at Home

For Liu, who spends most of her season competing on the LPGA Tour, this win marks another milestone in a decorated career. With eight Epson Tour victories and a 2019 Money List title already under her belt, she’s no stranger to success — but lifting a trophy at home, in front of her own people, hits differently.

A record 11,650 fans attended across the three days at Mission Hills – the largest turnout ever for a PIF Global Series event. Initially, Liu admitted she wasn’t the crowd favourite.

“At the beginning, most people were cheering for Ronni (Ruoning Yin), which I totally understand. For the first few holes, no one was clapping for me – everyone was clapping for Ronni! But she’s a true friend, and toward the end, people started cheering for me more and more. I began making more birdies, and I really felt the support from my home crowd.”

The cheers grew louder with every hole as Liu’s putter caught fire. A clutch birdie on 11 steadied her nerves, an eagle on 16 put her firmly in command, and a closing birdie at 18 sealed a dream finish in front of a sea of Chinese flags.

A Landmark Moment for Women’s Golf

Beyond Liu’s triumph, the Aramco China Championship underlined the rapid evolution of women’s golf. Organised by Golf Saudi, the PIF Global Series has brought elite competition, world-class venues, and life-changing prize funds to players across continents — and this week’s event felt like another turning point.

Mission Hills buzzed with energy throughout the tournament, with fans flocking not only to watch the action but to take part in Golf Saudi clinics designed to grow participation at grassroots level.

This spirit of progress continued off the fairways as well, with the LET announcing an expanded PIF Global Series for 2026 – featuring five tournaments across three continents and a $15 million combined prize pool.

The strengthened partnership between the LET, PIF, and Golf Saudi underscores a shared mission: to elevate women’s golf to new global heights while creating cross-cultural connections through sport.

As the sun dipped behind Mission Hills and the crowds roared one final time, Liu’s smile said it all. A local hero had delivered a global statement — and the Aramco China Championship had found its defining moment.
