From Drop Zone to Title Chase: Vincent’s LIV Golf Return Gathers Pace

Scott Vincent, Zimbabwe’s smooth-swinging assassin, is back in the hunt for LIV Golf glory after a commanding victory at the International Series Morocco.

The four-shot win on Royal Golf Dar Es Salam’s unforgiving Red Course has fired Vincent up the rankings and revived his chase for a full-time return to the LIV Golf League.

If you blinked, you might’ve missed him last season – Vincent tumbled out of LIV’s plush inner circle after finishing in the dreaded drop zone. But now, the 33-year-old has flipped the narrative like a man who’s had enough of watching from the sidelines.

This was no walk in the Casablanca park. The field included defending champ and Range Goats GC mainstay Ben Campbell, the evergreen Charl Schwartzel of Stinger GC (yes, that 2011 Masters champ), and two-time International Series winner Peter Uihlein. Still, Vincent wasn’t fazed. He dismantled the lot of them.

“It’s how I ended up on LIV Golf a couple of years ago, so I know what it means,” Vincent said post-round, soaking in his first win since International Series England in 2022.

“The goal with the International Series is to give yourself a real shot by the end of the year. Winning early helps a lot — it gives you more opportunities to perform well going forward.”

That shot he’s talking about? A golden ticket back to the LIV Golf League, granted to the season’s International Series champion. And after Morocco, Scott Vincent is now perched second in the standings, just behind Ripper GC’s Lucas Herbert — the bloke who triumphed at International Series Japan.

Vincent leapfrogged fellow contenders Carlos Ortiz and Ollie Schniederjans, winners in Macau and India respectively. From languishing outside the LIV fold to now stalking the summit — it’s been a rapid reversal.

Not that this came out of nowhere. Vincent had already shown signs of a revival with a T5 at the Mizuno Open and a T4 in Korea. Morocco just confirmed what he already knew: he’s trending in the right direction, with six crucial stops still to play.

First up? The Indonesian Masters (2–5 October). Then it’s on to new turf: International Series Cambodia (9–12 October) and Philippines (23–26 October). That gauntlet is followed by The Link Hong Kong Open, Moutai Singapore Open, and finally, the season-closer — the PIF Saudi International.

Every one of those events is a chance for Vincent to jump past Herbert and reclaim his seat at golf’s most disruptive table.

Asked directly if LIV Golf remains the endgame, Vincent didn’t dance around it.

“Absolutely — that’s one of the goals,” he said. “After stepping back last year and evaluating everything, I realized I needed to improve. The focus now is just on getting better, and I believe opportunities like LIV Golf will come as a result.”

And with that, Scott Vincent marches on — a man on a mission, chasing redemption with a driver in hand and the scent of LIV in the air.
