Scott Vincent Eyes LIV Return as He Leads International Series into Riyadh Finale

Scott Vincent has muscled his way back into the spotlight at exactly the right time. Scott Vincent sits atop The International Series Rankings heading into the final event of the season, and with two prized LIV Golf spots up for grabs, the Zimbabwean knows he’s one good week away from climbing back into the sport’s top tier — if he can hold his nerve.

Vincent spent two seasons with Iron Heads GC after winning the inaugural Rankings race in 2022, only to lose his roster place at the end of 2024. That sort of setback can rattle a player. Instead, he responded with the kind of stubborn resolve you’d expect from a man who’s built his game on discipline rather than fireworks.

His year has been defined by momentum at exactly the right moments. A composed victory at International Series Morocco, followed by a razor-tight play-off defeat to Wade Ormsby at the Jakarta International Championship, gave him the cushion he needed. It’s not a runaway lead, but it’s enough to keep his destiny in his own hands.

Now comes the real test: the US$5 million PIF Saudi International — the season’s final stop and a monster of an event offering elevated Rankings points. This is where pretenders wobble and contenders get on with the job.

Vincent, to his credit, isn’t overthinking it. “I never focus too much on leaderboards – to me it is more important to concentrate on every single shot, to make sure I give it my best. I practise this every day, and I try to stay in the moment during my practise so I can do the same out on the golf course.

“Of course there will be competition out there, but I can’t really worry too much about that – I just need to trust in my process and continue to try and improve and get better every day and every time I stand over the golf ball.”

You can almost hear the sports psychologists nodding approvingly. That mindset isn’t glamorous, but it wins careers.

Behind him, Japan’s Yosuke Asaji lurks in second after winning the Moutai Singapore Open and bagging a T2 in the Philippines. Miguel Tabuena, winner of the International Series Philippines presented by BingoPlus, holds third. International Series India presented by DLF champion Ollie Schniederjans sits fifth, with Jakarta champion Ormsby in sixth and Japan’s Kazuki Higa anchoring the top ten.

Four of those top-ten spots belong to LIV Golf players, which tells you everything about the depth of the field and the desperation to secure a roster place for 2025.

And if the Rankings race weren’t brutal enough, the final twist comes next January: two more golden tickets will be handed out at the third edition of the LIV Golf Promotions event in Florida. For some, that’s a safety net. For others, it’s a reminder that this is a sport where second chances cost nerves, sleep, and possibly a small portion of your sanity.

For Vincent, though, the brief is simple. Stay in the moment. Hit the shot in front of you. Don’t get distracted by the noise. One more solid week, and the big league will welcome him back. He’s earned the right to make that last push count.
