Carton House to Host OFX Irish Legends in 2026

The Staysure Legends Tour will return to one of Ireland’s most proven golfing stages next summer, with Carton House confirmed as host of the OFX Irish Legends from July 10–12, 2026.

It is a neat bit of timing and an even better fit, because when Irish golf starts humming ahead of a Ryder Cup, it tends to sound like a full orchestra rather than a man fiddling with a ukulele in the corner.

Set just outside Dublin, Carton House is no stranger to the business end of tournament golf. It has the sort of pedigree that does not need much polishing, having staged both men’s and women’s Irish Opens as well as the Irish Legends in 2010. In other words, this is not a venue learning to wear a blazer for the occasion. It already owns one.

A proven Irish stage at the right moment

What makes this announcement more interesting than a standard date-and-venue reveal is the timing. With the Ryder Cup returning to Ireland in 2027, the OFX Irish Legends arrives with a ready-made pulse. The event will bring back figures closely tied to Europe’s modern Ryder Cup story, and that gives the week a little more weight than a routine stop on the senior schedule.

The field is set to include Open champion Paul Lawrie, US Open winner Michael Campbell and 2014 Ryder Cup-winning captain Paul McGinley. There is also the prospect of familiar European names such as Jamie Donaldson and Stephen Gallacher, two players who know their way around pressure and reputation in equal measure.

Donaldson, of course, comes into this with a little early-season shine after birdieing the last to win the Staysure Marbella Legends. That sort of finish tends to travel well. It also gives the event a useful thread of momentum before a ball has even been struck at Carton House.

Why Carton House makes sense

Some venues host golf. Others suit it. Carton House falls firmly into the second camp.

There is already history here, and history matters in events like this because the crowd is not merely turning up to watch numbers change on a leaderboard. They are turning up to see names they know, players they remember, and stories they have followed for decades. A course with tournament credentials sharpens all of that.

Carton House also gives the OFX Irish Legends the right visual frame. Championship-calibre layout, established tournament infrastructure and the pull of Dublin nearby make it a compelling setting for a week that aims to feel both serious and welcoming. That balance matters on The Staysure Legends Tour, where elite competition and fan access are both part of the package.

David Adams, Managing Director of the Staysure Legends Tour, said:
“We are thrilled to bring the OFX Irish Legends to Carton House for 2026. The venue provides a fantastic stage for our players.

Ireland has always delivered incredible support for this tournament, and with the Ryder Cup on the horizon, there is a real sense of anticipation building around golf in the country. We are delighted to be a part of that.”

Ryder Cup shadows and familiar faces

It would be impossible to stage this event in Ireland in 2026 and not feel the Ryder Cup shadow stretching across it. In this case, that is a very good thing.

McGinley’s presence alone gives the week an emotional tug. He remains one of the most recognisable figures in Irish and European golf, and when he speaks about Irish crowds and golfing heritage, people tend to listen because he has lived the thing, not merely narrated it from a hospitality tent.

Paul McGinley, former Ryder Cup Captain and Staysure Legends Tour player, said:
“The OFX Irish Legends is always a special week. Irish fans have a real appreciation for the game and its history, and Carton House is a brilliant fit to host an event like this.

With the Ryder Cup returning to Ireland in 2027, there’s an added buzz, and having so many players who have been part of that story back competing in front of Irish crowds makes it even more special.”

That is really the point of this event in a single thought. It is not just about who wins on Sunday. It is about putting Irish fans back in front of players who helped shape one of Europe’s great sporting rivalries, then letting the atmosphere do the rest.

More than a tournament week

One of the strongest cards The Staysure Legends Tour continues to play is access.

This is not a week built solely around gallery ropes and distant applause. The OFX Irish Legends offers amateurs the chance to get unusually close to the action, and in some cases right into it.

Playing alongside Major champions and Ryder Cup names is the kind of thing that sounds faintly absurd until somebody hands you a tee time and tells you to keep your head down over the first putt.

That blend of professional competition and amateur experience gives the event a wider appeal than many traditional tour stops. It is part tournament, part reunion, part dream sequence for club golfers who have spent years wondering what life inside the ropes might feel like.

Carton House eyes another notable week

For Carton House, this is another chance to reaffirm its place in Ireland’s tournament conversation.

Jeff Mullen, whose family owns Carton House, said: “We are proud to welcome the OFX Irish Legends to Carton House and to continue the estate’s legacy of hosting world-class golf. This event reflects the strength of Ireland’s golfing heritage and the growing momentum leading into the Ryder Cup in 2027. Carton House offers a truly special setting for both players and guests, and we look forward to delivering an exceptional experience on and off the course.”

That matters because top-class events are not awarded on sentiment alone. Venues need credibility, logistics, atmosphere and a course capable of holding the attention of players who have seen almost everything. Carton House ticks those boxes without making a fuss about it.

Maeve McMahon, Chief Commercial Officer, OFX, said: “It’s the third year we’ve supported the OFX Irish Legends. Through the global Staysure Legends Tour, we want to reach businesses who operate across borders. Our platform combines competitive FX rates, secure international payments, and tools that support international growth. We look forward to connecting with our customers and businesses at the OFX Irish Legends in July.”

What this means for Irish golf

The significance of this event is not hard to spot. The Staysure Legends Tour is bringing recognisable names, proven winners and Ryder Cup links to a country already leaning forward toward 2027. That gives the OFX Irish Legends a useful job to do: warm the stage, stir the memory and remind people that Irish golf does not just wait for big moments. It tends to generate them.

By the time July rolls around, Carton House should offer exactly what this event requires: a credible course, a knowledgeable crowd and the sort of atmosphere that makes former champions walk a little taller, even if the knees complain more than they used to.

And that, in the end, is why this feels like more than a fixture announcement. The Staysure Legends Tour has found the right venue at the right time, and Irish golf has another week to look forward to with the Ryder Cup already glinting just over the hill.
