The Summit Rock clubhouse has finally arrived at Horseshoe Bay Resort — and let’s just say, the locals might need a crowbar to pry the members out of it.
After years of anticipation, this 22,000-square-foot stunner perched above the 18th hole on the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is more than just bricks, beams, and big windows.
It’s the beating heart of a golf community that’s been playing without its 19th hole for far too long.
If the Jack Nicklaus–designed course is the crown jewel of Central Texas golf, the Summit Rock clubhouse is its newly polished tiara. With panoramic views of Lake LBJ and the Texas Hill Country, it’s part gathering spot, part fine-dining venue, part sports hangout — and entirely worth the wait.
“The opening of the clubhouse marks a huge enhancement to the golf experience at Summit Rock,” said Anthony Holder, PGA, Director of Golf Operations at Horseshoe Bay Resort.
“We already know the golf course (which opened in 2012) is special and the membership is special. But having a state-of-the-art facility that provides an exclusive retreat for members where they can relax, socialize and enjoy the world-class amenities is going to be huge.”
A Hill Country Hideaway with German Flair

Dallas-based THREE Architecture, the brains behind the equally jaw-dropping Cap Rock Members Club, took the reins on the design. The result? A nod to the Texas Hill Country’s German roots, featuring local limestone, timber pillars, and meticulous steelwork. It’s got the kind of craftsmanship that makes you want to slow-walk through the lobby just to soak it in.
Downstairs: Bets, Brews, and Steam Rooms
The lower level is where the post-round rituals begin. Men’s and women’s locker rooms come with saunas, showers, shoe-cleaning service, and enough big screens to keep even the most distracted sports fan engaged. Coffee and snacks are on hand, too — because settling your bets works up an appetite.
“It’s designed to be a place where you finish your round, you settle up your bets, and you have your first drink,” Holder said. “Then you can go upstairs for a nice dinner or more drinks at Jack’s.”
Upstairs: Jack’s Takes the Spotlight
The main level houses Jack’s, Summit Rock’s new 19th hole named for the Golden Bear himself. Think tavern meets fine dining, with oversized windows framing the Hill Country and an outdoor terrace that makes you question why you ever bothered with indoor seating.
“Jack’s is a special spot,” said Stacey Persinger, General Manager of Membership at Horseshoe Bay Resort. “It’s truly a golfer’s dream. Here, members can settle their bets over craft cocktails, enjoy chef-driven cuisine, and unwind by the stone fireplace – all while taking in the sweeping Hill Country views through oversized windows or from the inviting outdoor patio.”
The dining setup is flexible, ranging from six intimate private rooms (12 to 60 guests each) to a full-capacity 180-person dining space. Chef Miguel Ortiz, a fan favorite from Cap Rock Restaurant, is running the kitchen, delivering a menu that swings from casual morning bites to sophisticated evening plates.
A Golf Shop with a Fashion Upgrade
Just off the main level sits the new 1,600-square-foot golf shop, designed with more than just polo shirts in mind. Higher-end lifestyle apparel, belts, and tailored pieces mean members can go straight from the course to dinner — without looking like they got lost on the way to the pro shop.
A Community Hub Years in the Making
For the past 13 years, Summit Rock members have been making do with event tents and borrowed venues. Now, everything is under one roof — or rather, under one sprawling, limestone-and-timber masterpiece. Many members won’t even need a car to get there; a quick spin in the golf cart will do.
“I think bringing that all together and having a hub for camaraderie with fine dining for premier events and an elevated lifestyle at Summit Rock is what it’s all about,” Holder said. “It’s more than just a building. It represents our commitment to providing an exceptional private golf experience.
This has been the missing piece for so long so it’s now giving those members the ability to have a space to spend the vast majority of their day there, be comfortable while doing it, and have multiple meal periods to service that.”
Persinger summed it up neatly: “This clubhouse will serve as a private haven for connection, cuisine, and camaraderie.”
