TGL Finals: Can Max Homa and Underdog Jupiter Links Pull Off Huge Upset Against Tommy Fleetwood’s Los Angeles Golf Club?

The finals are set, TGL Season 2 is about to conclude, and one team will lift the coveted SoFi Cup after a best-of-three finale!

These two clubs first met on January 20th, where Los Angeles doubled up on Jupiter, defeating the latter 8 – 4.

While Los Angeles dominated triples play 3 – 1 (including a hammer for each side), Jupiter almost caught up in singles before a hammer challenge between Bhatia and Morikawa was accepted. Morikawa would go on to essentially seal the deal for LA as he had done throughout the season.

From that point forward the two clubs diverged on very different paths to reach the Season 2 Finals.

How to Watch

All matches will appear on ESPN2 (Monday) and ESPN (Tuesday) with the possible doubleheader occurring on Tuesday night should the finals be tied 1 – 1 after Match 2.

TGL continues its endearment towards fans in making sure that every single match is televised on one of two ESPN’s primary channels.

Los Angeles’ Path to The Finals

Los Angeles enters the Finals as number two seed and presumptive favorites to win it all featuring an all-star cast of Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, and Tommy Fleetwood.

Los Angeles’ regular season 3 – 2 record consisted of wins over Jupiter, Atlanta, and New York with losses coming against Boston and The Bay.

LA drew the reigning champs, the Atlanta Drive, for the semifinal round of the playoffs, eventually defeating the 2025 Champions 6 – 4, sweeping the singles contest 3 – 0 including two decisive points from Justin Rose.

Jupiter Links’ Path to The Finals

Jupiter’s regular season consisted of four games consisting of pedestrian play that made the team look destined to miss the playoffs for a second consecutive season.

Unable to play this season, Tiger Woods took on a on-field coaching role, and signed Akshay Bhatia to fill his spot, joining Kevin Kisner, Max Homa, and Tom Kim.

In possibly the greatest match in TGL history, the regular season finale between Jupiter Links and The Bay consisted of a winner-take-all matchup in which two underachieving clubs had one last chance for redemption.

Jupiter’s Tom Kim sunk the league’s second-ever hole-in-one to put Jupiter up by one, and Kevin Kisner delivered the coup de grace on the final hole, sending Jupiter to their first postseason appearance.

Perhaps even more unlikely was Jupiter’s playoff win over the one-seed Boston Common Golf, which was not a particularly close game, with Jupiter winning 9 – 6, including two garbage-time points from Boston on the 14th hole.

Team Stats – How LA and Jupiter Match Up
Stat Jupiter Links Los Angeles
Avg Driver Ball Speed 173.2 (6th) 175.9 (4th)
Avg Driver Distance 308.1 (6th) 317.9 (2nd)
Avg Driver Swing Speed 119.3 (5th) 120.1 (4th)
Fairways Hit 64.0% (3rd) 68.0% (2nd)
Greens in Regulation 69.3% (2nd) 66.7% (4th)

When it comes to ball striking, Los Angeles has every advantage over Jupiter by a wide margin; in fact, the only tracked team category Jupiter was better in was GIR, second in the league only to Boston Common.

While the stats may be skewed by Rory McIlroy’s elite and consistent clubhead speed and Kevin Kisner’s lack thereof, it is important to note that the latter’s participation in Monday’s match will likely bring Jupiter’s overall numbers down, as we saw in the regular season.

The Lineups – Stars Ready to Shine

The surprise nods for Monday’s Match 1 go to LA’s Sahith Theegala and Jupiter’s Kevin Kisner who will be taking over for Collin Morikawa and Akshay Bhatia, respectively.

Both teams’ decision to take two 2026 PGA Tour winners out of the lineups for Match 1 is a curious move. While Morikawa dominated the TGL regular season with (22) total points won, Bhatia struggled along the way until eventually finding his footing late into the season and during the semifinals against Boston Common.

Max Homa goes into the finals as the frontrunner for postseason MVP. The resurgent Homa leads TGL in some crucial postseason stat categories including Singles Holes Won (4), Triples Holes Won (4), and Total Holes Won (8). For total holes won, Homa is three better than second-place Justin Rose with (5).

It’s hard to believe with his play being where it has been the past few seasons, but Homa is absolutely Jupiter Links’ best bet to pull off an incredible upset and win the TGL Season 2 finals.

For Los Angeles, we’re looking at Tommy Fleetwood who was held off the scoresheet in the semifinals against Atlanta. While LA’s rock is undoubtedly Collin Morikawa, Fleetwood feels like the most likely golfer on either squad to have his breakout during the finals.

Still in top form, as evidenced with a T8; 8-under par finish at The Players, Fleetwood is our pick to rival Jupiter’s Max Homa. and would be our preferred matchup when both squads announce who will go up against who during singles play.

Predicting the Winner – Who Will Lift the SoFi Cup?

Last season nobody could have predicted the Atlanta Drive’s incredible postseason run to take home the SoFi Cup during the league’s inaugural year.

It was an incredible run that included a finals sweep against New York, a team consisting of two top points-getters during the regular season in Cameron Young and Rickie Fowler.

This season, a similar story is brewing with Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links who entered the playoffs as the 4th and final seed and sneaked into the postseason with a miracle win over The Bay during the regular season finale.

While Los Angeles is comprised of a bunch of current winners on the PGA Tour and has seemingly no holes or weak links, the scrappy and somewhat underpowered Jupiter squad will try to do what Atlanta pulled off last season.

Prediction Analysis: Jupiter will live or die with Max Homa’s upcoming performances. While Jupiter has some nice pieces on their roster, a lot of what they’ve been accomplishing over the past couple of matches has been aided by a lot of luck. That luck cannot suddenly dry up; it needs to be sustained for at least two matches, and I don’t think there’s much more blood to squeeze from this stone.

Los Angeles’ roster is undoubtedly the best in the league, and all four of their players are capable of taking over a match at any given time. There are no weak links in this chain.

Jupiter doesn’t have that luxury, and to reiterate they need three things to happen if they even have a chance of winning: MVP Homa, luck streak to continue, and perfection from the rest of the roster.

It’s time for Los Angeles to wrap up their fantastic season, send their stars off in style, and take home two more wins to earn the right to call themselves champions.
