Camiral has done it again, and at this point it’s less a surprise and more a habit: the Catalonia resort earmarked for The 2031 Ryder Cup has retained its status as Spain’s No.1 Golf Resort in Golf World’s latest global rankings, extending a decade-long reign and staying inside the world’s top 20.
Set on a 550-hectare forested estate within easy reach of Barcelona and the Costa Brava, Camiral is not the sort of place that merely “has two courses.” It has two proper ones — the Stadium and Tour — the type that make good golfers feel clever for three holes, then spend the next 15 negotiating terms with their ego.
Add a five-star hotel, a four-star option, and a residential community, and you start to see why it keeps turning up near the top of glossy lists that people pretend they don’t care about… until their mates see it first.
“Spain’s No.1 Golf Resort is a compelling mix of high-end golf, home to the world-renowned Stadium and Tour courses, and ultra-stylish accommodation”, said Chris Bertram, Editor of the Golf World Top 100.
“Over the past decade, Camiral’s evolution from a venue focused primarily on the serious golfer into a truly rounded golf and leisure destination has been incredibly impressive, and this transformation has played a key role in attracting an ever-growing international audience.”
A top-20 resort now, a Ryder Cup venue next
Rankings are one thing. Hosting a Ryder Cup is quite another — it’s golf’s travelling circus, rolling into town with noise, nerves, and enough opinion to power a small nation. Camiral has six years to make sure the place not only looks the part, but plays it under the most unforgiving spotlight.
David Plana, CEO of Camiral, commented, “Being recognised once again among the world’s top 20 golf resorts, while retaining our position as Spain’s No.1, strongly affirms our long-term commitment to quality, service and continuous improvement.
With the Ryder Cup coming to Camiral in 2031, this ranking reinforces that the venue selected to host one of sport’s greatest events already meets the highest global standards and is a testament to the dedication of our resort-wide teams.”
€5.5 million on the turf: the Stadium and Tour Courses get upgraded
If you’re going to welcome the Ryder Cup, you don’t do it with crossed fingers and a fresh coat of paint. Camiral is implementing a significant programme of course enhancements for both the Stadium and Tour Courses, with work already underway on a €5.5 million upgrade.
The plan is practical as well as ambitious: activity intensifies during the summer, with one course remaining open while the other is renovated. The full programme is expected to be completed by October 2026, giving the resort time to bed in the changes and refine the overall experience before the Ryder Cup crowds arrive.
Plana added, “This investment in our golf courses, combined with ongoing enhancements to accommodation, sports facilities and service, demonstrates our commitment to delivering an unparalleled golf experience. It represents investment not only in the courses themselves, but in the long-term enjoyment of our guests and the enduring legacy of Camiral as host of The 2031 Ryder Cup.”
Not just golf: where the resort tries to steal your recovery routine

Camiral’s modern pitch is simple: come for the golf, stay because you’ve accidentally become the sort of person who books a wellness treatment before dinner and feels smug about it.
Beyond the fairways, the resort offers a state-of-the-art Wellness Centre, five on-site dining options, the seasonal Origin fine dining restaurant, and the reimagined Camiral Bistro. On the accommodation front, it includes the five-star Hotel Camiral (a member of The Leading Hotels of The World) and the four-star Lavida.
For visiting golfers, the proposition is clear: world-class golf paired with holistic wellness, innovative treatments, and Catalan cuisine — a premium leisure set-up designed to keep you on site, off your phone, and (briefly) convinced you’re a better version of yourself.
