Lewis Hamilton Swaps Racing Lines for Golf Lessons With Min Woo Lee

Lewis Hamilton has spent a career mastering speed, pressure and precision, but golf has a habit of making even the most accomplished athlete feel suspicious of their own hands.

In the opening episode of lululemon’s new “Rest Day with Lewis Hamilton” series, the seven-time Formula 1™ World Champion steps onto the course with professional golfer Min Woo Lee for swing advice, sporting conversation and the sort of friendly competition that rarely stays friendly for long.

The series follows Hamilton as he leaves the familiar territory of motorsport to learn from elite athletes across other disciplines. Each episode explores the habits, attitudes and mental resilience behind high performance, while placing one of the world’s most recognisable competitors in situations where he is no longer the resident expert.

Golf, naturally, is an excellent place to begin. It offers just enough encouragement to create confidence before removing it without warning.

A Champion Back in Learning Mode

Hamilton’s success has been built on control, adaptability and relentless refinement. Yet his interest in improvement extends well beyond Formula 1.

“I’ve always been curious, and I’ve never been comfortable standing still, whether that’s in the car or in other things I’m involved in, like fashion, film or music,” says Lewis Hamilton. “Growth comes from putting yourself in unfamiliar situations and being willing to learn. That mindset of constant improvement is something that shapes who I am.”

That outlook transfers neatly to golf, a game in which standing still is generally encouraged but becoming comfortable is strongly discouraged.

The sport asks a very different set of questions from motor racing. There is no engine noise, no rival filling the mirrors and considerably more time to reconsider every decision. A golfer can stand over the ball long enough to imagine several disasters before selecting one.

For Hamilton, the appeal appears to lie in that unfamiliarity. He is not approaching the course as a champion entitled to immediate success, but as an athlete willing to listen, experiment and accept that the first few swings may require diplomatic editing.

Min Woo Lee Becomes the Instructor

In the debut episode, Hamilton joins Min Woo Lee for real-time instruction, technical adjustments and a touch of competition.

Lee is one of golf’s most engaging personalities, capable of combining serious athletic talent with a relaxed presence that makes the game look considerably less complicated than it tends to feel. On this occasion, he takes charge of the lesson while Hamilton assumes the role of attentive pupil.

The pair work through swing technique while discussing the psychological demands shared by both sports: recovering from mistakes, maintaining concentration and remaining composed when pressure begins rearranging the furniture.

“Lewis was incredibly down to earth and generous with his time. Getting to spend a day on the course with him and talk through his approach to the game and life beyond it was really special,” said Min Woo Lee. “I loved seeing how golf connects people from different worlds, and sharing a few moments where I could even give him some pointers on the swing made it even more memorable.”

There is something appealing about the reversal. Hamilton is accustomed to being the man others study. On the golf course, Lee has the answers—or at least as many answers as anybody can reasonably claim to possess in a sport where yesterday’s perfect swing can disappear overnight.

Different Sports, Familiar Pressure

Formula 1 and golf may appear to occupy opposite ends of the sporting spectrum. One is played at extraordinary speed; the other occasionally takes an extraordinary amount of time.

Beneath the surface, however, both demand precision, emotional control and the ability to recover quickly from an error.

A poor shot cannot be retrieved any more than a poor racing decision can be reversed. The athlete must process the mistake, resist the temptation to carry it forward and commit fully to the next task.

That mental challenge gives the episode more substance than the usual celebrity golf appearance. Hamilton and Lee are not simply trading jokes and club selections. Their conversation examines how elite performers stay present, manage setbacks and continue developing after reaching the highest level of their respective sports.

Golf is particularly effective at exposing those habits. It strips away the protection of reputation and offers no special treatment for previous achievements. The ball does not care how many world championships are listed on the biography.

Golf Style on Show

The episode also gives lululemon’s latest golf clothing a prominent place on the fairways.

Hamilton wears the Grand Standard Short Sleeve Polo with the Unshaken Relaxed-Fit Pant and Structured Classic Ball Cap. Lee pairs the ShowZero™ Classic-Fit Polo Shirt with the new Stretch Twill Relaxed-Fit Golf Pant.

The styling reflects golf’s continuing movement towards clothing that works both on and away from the course. Performance remains essential, but modern players increasingly expect comfort and versatility without looking as though they have been wrapped in technical fabric by a committee.

Hamilton, whose influence already stretches across sport, fashion, film and music, is an obvious fit for that conversation. Lee, meanwhile, brings the credibility of a professional golfer whose style has become part of his broader appeal.

More Sporting Crossovers to Come

Two additional episodes are planned for later in the summer, with Hamilton meeting athletes from other unexpected disciplines.

The wider series will continue to examine curiosity, connection and the pursuit of improvement beyond an athlete’s established field of expertise. It is a format with obvious potential. Champions are often most interesting when they are removed from the environment in which everything comes naturally.

The opening episode was announced for a global release on Monday, 13 July through lululemon’s YouTube channel.

For Hamilton, the golf course offers a fresh test of patience, touch and competitive restraint. For Lee, it provides the rare pleasure of telling a Formula 1 legend exactly where he is going wrong.

And for the rest of us, it is a comforting reminder that golf can make a beginner out of almost anyone.
