Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort has a funny habit of refusing to move out of top spot, and Golf World’s latest global rankings have only reinforced the point: the Provence showpiece has retained its position as France’s No.1 golf resort in the publication’s new Top 100 World Resorts list.
Not bad for a place that sits just 45 minutes from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, yet feels a world away from the bustle of the Riviera. It’s the only venue in France to pair a full-blown luxury resort with a private members’ club, and it is also the country’s first — and still only — Troon Privé affiliated property. In plain terms: it’s built to host dream golf trips, but it still guards a certain members-only mystique.
The ranking hinges, as it should, on the golf. Terre Blanche’s reputation is anchored by two contrasting courses that give you different kinds of trouble — the enjoyable sort that you pay good money to experience.
Chris Bertram, Editor of Golf World Top 100, said: “There are two world-class courses at Terre Blanche: the championship-hosting Le Château, which offers a dramatic playing experience with numerous elevated tees and views across the hills of Provence; and the members- and guests-only Le Riou, a tactical, tree-lined layout that is both challenging and a delight to play.
“With upgrades coming to both courses overseen by European Golf Design, I fully expect these already outstanding courses will get even better. Combined with a sensational hotel and all-round resort, Terre Blanche is the clear No.1 golf resort in France.”
That upgrades line is the real tell. Plenty of resorts hit the summit and start admiring the view. Terre Blanche appears to be tightening the screws instead — improving two courses that are already considered the best one-two punch in the country, under the guidance of European Golf Design.
For the resort, the accolade reads like recognition — but also like a statement of intent.
Marc Delauné, President of Terre Blanche, commented: “Retaining our position as France’s No.1 golf resort, while once again being recognised among the very best destinations in the world, reflects the long-term vision we have for excellence across golf, hospitality and resort experiences.
“This listing is testament to the work of our dedicated team and our commitment to continually enhancing experiences for our guests.”
And it’s not only the fairways they’re polishing. Terre Blanche has also pushed hard on sustainability and biodiversity — not as brochure garnish, but in a way that has actually been recognised.
The resort is one of only three golf venues in France to have received the Gold Certificate for Biodiversity from the French Golf Federation and the National Museum of Natural History.

All of this sits inside a 300-hectare Provençal estate, close enough to the French Riviera to make the logistics painless, but far enough inland to feel like you’ve escaped.
Off the course, Terre Blanche leans unapologetically into the “complete resort” model: a five-star hotel with 115 suites and villas, Michelin-starred dining at Le Faventia, a spa and wellness set-up that takes recovery seriously, a proper kids’ club (not a token colouring table), and what it bills as Europe’s leading academy and golf performance centre.
That last part matters for anyone who likes their luxury with a side of purpose. The best golf trips don’t just deliver a few rounds and a room key — they give you something to take home besides a sore back and a swollen camera roll.
At Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort, the golf is the headline, but the surrounding ecosystem is what keeps people coming back: the training, the service, the space, the food, the calm — and now, a clear promise that the courses are about to get even sharper.
For a resort already labelled France’s No.1, that’s an ominous thought for everyone else.
