TGL Playoffs Picks and Preview: Who Has the Edge in Tiger vs. Rory Semifinals?

The Season 2 Playoffs begin with a Tuesday Night doubleheader where the defending champion Atlanta Drive will square off against a star-studded Los Angeles team whose members have claimed several recent PGA Tour wins.

LAs’ Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and Colin Morikawa captured the two-seed by way of a tiebreaker over Atlanta based upon the clubs’ most recent matchup, a 7 – 3 win over Atlanta.

Whoever wins the sudden-elimination playoff match will move on to the Finals (March 23 – 24) in a best-of-three match to take home the SoFi Cup.

The second half of the doubleheader features the one-seed Boston Common Golf Club and the surprise ticket of the playoffs, Tiger Woods’ very own Jupiter Links.

At long last the teams that missed last year’s playoffs will face off against each other in what promises to be one of TGL’s most unforgettable matchups.

Match One: Atlanta Drive vs. Los Angeles Golf Club

Predictions: Who Makes it to the Finals

MATCH ONE: ATLANTA (3) VS. LOS ANGELES (2)

When and How to Watch: Tuesday, March 17; 6:30 PM ET; ESPN and ESPN App

How They Got Here: The defending champion Atlanta Drive secured the third seed by finishing the season with a 3 – 2 record. Atlanta started the season 2 – 0, aided by the addition of Chris Gotterup. Los Angeles’ season yo-yoed early on, but the all-star squad eventually settled down and secured the second seed by knocking New York, last year’s runners-up, out of the playoffs in their last match of the season.

Who’s Hot, Who’s Not: Colin Morikawa has begun a renaissance season not only on TGL, where he finished the regular season 2nd in Total Points scored with 22 in 41 holes, but also as an early champion on the PGA Tour after his win at Pebble Beach. Atlanta’s Patrick Cantlay has had a disappointing season on TGL, struggling to score points despite getting plenty of playing time.

MATCH TWO: JUPITER (4) VS. BOSTON COMMON (1)

When and How to Watch: Tuesday, March 17; 9:00 PM ET; ESPN and ESPN App

How They Got Here: Jupiter Links’s upset over The Bay in a winner-take-all match was easily the best TGL match we’ve seen since the league began. Tom Kim scored the league’s second hole-in-one, giving Jupiter a one-point edge over The Bay. Kevin Kisner then outdueled Wyndham Clark on the final hole to secure victory and give Jupiter their first taste of the postseason.

Boston Common had a reversal of fortune in 2026 after going winless in TGL’s inaugural season. Boston’s only loss was to a formidable Atlanta team. Their four wins were best in the league and good enough to earn the top seed.

Who’s Hot, Who’s Not: The entire Boston squad has been incredible this season, but Keegan Bradley would quite easily win the MVP if there was such an award. The U.S. Ryder Cup captain led the league in Total Points won (24) with 21 of those coming from triples play.

Perhaps most importantly, Bradley was the only TGL golfer to play in all five matches this season. Jupiter’s Max Homa led the league in singles points won (7) and played in the most (tied with Bradley) head-to-head matchups in Season 2.

Jupiter’s Akshay Bhatia was not quite the injection of life that Jupiter had hoped for when they signed him earlier this year. Only winning one hole in singles play and scoring 13 total points in 42 points played, Bhatia found himself benched late in the season when Tom Kim returned to play.

FINAL PREDICTIONS: WHO PUNCHES THEIR TICKET TO THE FINALS

ATL – LA

The brain says Los Angeles, but the heart says Atlanta.

There are no weak links for Los Angeles; in fact, I’m a little surprised they lost a match this season, let alone two. Justin Rose and Colin Morikawa are in elite form and Morikawa has seemed to take TGL to heart this season with multiple resounding performances.

Nobody was likely to have chosen Atlanta to win last year, but they did, including their huge upset victory over The Bay in the playoffs.

This is a match of elite talent up and down the lineup versus playoff experience and a team with a penchant for hitting clutch shots.

Over the years, I’ve learned to listen to the brain rather than his counterpart. Los Angeles Golf Club takes the win in what should be a fun start to a great night of golf.

JUP – BOS

Both teams’ first playoff appearances are against each other. Co-founders Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy finally get to face off against each other (kind of). This is the match we’ve been waiting to see.

Unfortunately for Jupiter, I chalk their playoff-clinching victory as lightning caught in a bottle and not ending the season hot. I don’t think we’ll see another team take a late lead via a hole-in-one, at least for a while.

While it was nice that the previously underperforming Kisner sunk the last putt to win that game, let’s face the facts and just say outright that The Bay couldn’t have played that last hole worse than a high-handicap amateur.

Number One seed Boston Common runs away with this match halfway through after a bit of back-and-forth with Jupiter on the first 2-4 holes. I picked Boston to win the SoFi Cup in my pre-season rankings/preview and I’m sticking with the frogs all the way through!
