TGL Season 2 is gearing up to be louder, faster, and, quite literally, larger than ever before. The primetime, tech-fueled team golf league—presented by SoFi and backed by the PGA TOUR—is set to tee off its second campaign on Sunday, December 28 at 3 p.m. ET, marking its broadcast debut on ABC. And fittingly, it opens with a rematch of last season’s nail-biting Finals between New York Golf Club and the defending champions, Atlanta Drive GC.
After a debut that had fans gawking at holographic fairways and digital greens, the TGL brains have gone back to the lab—armed with player feedback, performance data, and a determination to keep golf’s newest format unpredictable.
The result? A redesigned arena, upgraded visuals, and gameplay tweaks that promise to turn TGL Season 2 into an even more thrilling spectacle.
“After a successful inaugural season, we conducted a comprehensive review of data and learnings from all aspects of competition with players, teams and our broadcast partners to elevate the fan experience, enhance gameplay and create even more excitement for Season 2 of TGL presented by SoFi,” said Andrew Macaulay, Chief Technology Officer at TMRW Sports, the parent company of TGL.
“These updates are part of our continued effort to increase drama, intrigue and dynamic moments while further challenging TGL’s teams within SoFi Center’s one-of-a-kind environment.”
The GreenZone Gets a Major Makeover
The league’s famed GreenZone—the heart of the action at SoFi Centre—has undergone major surgery. The putting surface is now 38% larger, expanding from 3,800 to 5,270 square feet, nearly matching an average PGA TOUR green.
That extra space means 12 hole locations instead of seven, plus a more realistic contour thanks to 608 actuators beneath the turf, morphing the surface into endless configurations.
The top knoll has been shaved down by 18 inches for better fan visibility, and the chipping area has been regraded to allow a fuller range of short-game creativity—from delicate bump-and-runs to towering flop shots.
Even the bunkers have bulked up; the two remaining traps are now 50% larger, sculpted with revetted turf layers for a more traditional, intimidating look.
Hole Designs: Team Identity Meets Strategy

For TGL Season 2, six redesigned holes will become official Team Holes, complete with localised backdrops and terrain that reflect each team’s identity. That means every matchup could feel like home turf—or hostile territory—depending on who’s playing.
Behind the digital curtain, the Full Swing crew has upgraded TGL’s game engine to Unity 6, using high-definition rendering to make each hole look and play more lifelike than ever.
Expect fresh tee boxes, new strategic angles, and revamped visuals that push the limits of virtual golf realism. Updated holes will roll out on TGL’s social and digital channels in the lead-up to opening day.
Bigger Boxes, Better Views
The ScreenZone hitting boxes have been enlarged for comfort and cleaner divot management—because even simulated turf needs maintenance.
Fairway bunkers are getting trickier too, thanks to adjustable sand lips that can rise or fall to make shot recovery that much more interesting.
And for those lucky enough to score tickets? Two camera towers have been removed from the playing area, with sensors now tucked into the ceiling—meaning fans in the lower bowl can actually see every stinger, flop, and lip-out in glorious real life.
Collaboration Behind the Curtain
The redesign is the handiwork of Beau Welling Design, Full Swing, and SYNLawn, who combined expertise in architecture, tech, and synthetic turf to ensure the SoFi Centre plays as smoothly as it looks.
With TGL Season 2 promising new holes, new visuals, and new tension in every match, one thing’s certain: this is not your grandfather’s golf league. The stage is set, the greens are faster, and the drama’s dialled up.
