Sebastian García leads after day one at the BMW Australian PGA Championship, producing a bogey-free seven-under through 15 holes before play was suspended due to lightning at Royal Queensland.
Australian Daniel Gale, who thrilled the home crowd with a hole-in-one on the par-three 11th to win a BMW M5 Touring car, sits two shots back at five under through 12 holes.
Six players form the chasing pack at four under, including New Zealand’s Ryan Fox, China’s Wenyi Ding, Finland’s Tapio Pulkkanen and local favourite Anthony Quayle, all of whom carded rounds of 67. Colombian Sebastian Munoz and Australia’s Nathan Barbieri also sit at four under with their opening rounds still to be completed.
Play will resume for round one of the BMW Australian PGA Championship at 6:00am AEST on Friday. Round two tee times will be delayed by one hour and 30 minutes, with the first group scheduled to tee off at 7:30am AEST.
