Travelling golfers face a familiar choice. Trust the airport baggage handlers with a carefully assembled set of clubs, or leave them at home and hope the hire equipment bears some resemblance to what they’re used to playing.
At Camiral, the Spanish resort preparing to host the 2031 Ryder Cup, that second option is getting a little more interesting.
The 36-hole destination, around an hour north of Barcelona, has signed a three-year agreement to become an exclusive Callaway High Performance Partner, bringing dedicated custom fitting facilities, the latest Callaway and Odyssey rental equipment and premium practice balls into its golfing operation.
For visiting players, those are the details that matter rather more than another partnership logo above the pro shop door.
Callaway Custom Fitting Arrives at Camiral’s Golf Hub

The centrepiece of the agreement is a new Callaway and Odyssey custom fitting studio at Camiral’s Golf Hub, giving golfers access to equipment fitting within the resort’s existing practice facilities.
And there is already a fair amount of technology on hand.
The Golf Hub features 10 covered driving range bays, GEARS Swing Analysis technology and an expansive grass teeing area. Short-game practice is catered for by a 2,000-square-metre putting and chipping green, complete with five practice bunkers.
Camiral is also home to what it describes as Spain’s only PGA National Golf Academy, attracting professional players, national teams and amateur golfers.
The addition of a dedicated fitting studio gives the resort another way to connect that practice environment with equipment selection.
Rather than choosing a driver simply because it looks appealing behind the ball, golfers will be able to explore Callaway’s fitting service at the resort. The quality of that experience will ultimately depend on the fitting itself, of course, rather than the machinery surrounding it.
More Options for Golfers Travelling Without Clubs

One of the more immediately useful elements of the partnership concerns golfers arriving without their own equipment.
Camiral will offer visiting players access to the latest Callaway and Odyssey equipment through its rental service, while Callaway becomes the exclusive supplier of premium driving range balls.
The wider agreement also provides access to brands within Callaway’s portfolio, including Odyssey and OGIO, supporting the resort’s retail offering for members and visitors.
It’s a sensible combination for a destination attracting international golfers. Custom fitting will appeal to those considering an equipment change, while a current rental range offers another option for players who would rather avoid checking a golf bag onto a flight.
Camiral joins an established European network of Callaway High Performance Partners that includes JCB Golf and Country Club in England, Celtic Manor in Wales, Evian Resort Golf Club and Terre Blanche in France, and Sweden’s Barsebäck Resort.
The partnership also extends to Camiral’s professional team. Head Professional Enric Lopez Garcia has joined Callaway’s Staff Ambassador programme, receiving equipment, apparel and technical support.
Building Towards the 2031 Ryder Cup
The Callaway agreement arrives during a significant period of investment at Camiral.
The resort recently announced a €7 million programme of improvements across its two championship layouts, the Stadium Course and Tour Course, with the work intended to enhance playability and environmental sustainability.
With the 2031 Ryder Cup on the calendar, attention is understandably turning towards the facilities and services surrounding the courses as well as the layouts themselves.
Flavio Papa, Camiral’s Director of Golf, has positioned the Callaway partnership as an opportunity to strengthen the equipment, retail and fitting services available to members, guests and visiting professionals.
For Callaway, the attraction is equally apparent. The company gains a presence at an established European tournament destination with extensive practice facilities and a major international event approaching.
There is also a straightforward benefit to having its equipment available where golfers can practise, receive a fitting and then head onto the course.
The Ryder Cup will inevitably dominate conversations about Camiral as 2031 approaches. But for golfers booking a trip well before then, the appeal of this arrangement is considerably more immediate.
A properly fitted club, access to current rental equipment and somewhere worthwhile to practise may not generate quite the same excitement as a Ryder Cup Sunday singles match.
They are, however, rather more useful when you’re standing on the first tee.
