Christo Lamprecht Returns to Mauritius After PGA TOUR Breakthrough

Christo Lamprecht, South Africa’s rising golf powerhouse and the nation’s newest PGA TOUR member, is set to return to the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open this December—this time with unfinished business.

The 24-year-old will tee it up at La Réserve Golf Links, Heritage Resorts, from 18–21 December, aiming to go one better than his runner-up finish at last year’s event.

Fresh off a breakthrough season on the Korn Ferry Tour, where Christo Lamprecht stormed to victory and finished ninth overall to secure his PGA TOUR card, the towering South African has quickly established himself as one of golf’s brightest young prospects.

His debut season was a statement—raw power, composure under pressure, and a touch of class that turned heads from Pretoria to Pebble Beach.

Last year, Lamprecht nearly pulled off a fairytale finish in Mauritius, finishing tied for second alongside compatriot Dylan Naidoo—just two shots shy of champion John Parry. The performance not only cemented his place among golf’s next generation but also kick-started his rise through the ranks.

Now, he’s back on the island that played a crucial role in launching his professional career. “We’re a strong group of golfers in our generation, from Dylan Naidoo to Aldrich Potgieter and Wilco Nienaber, Jayden Schaper, Deon Germishuys, Garrick Higgo, Luca Filippi and so many others.

I think it’s one of the strongest generations that has come through South Africa in a long time, and it’s awesome to be a part of that,” said Lamprecht.

The camaraderie and competitive drive among this new wave of South African talent have reignited the nation’s golfing spirit. Both Lamprecht and Naidoo turned their 2024 Mauritius performances into stepping stones—Naidoo earning full DP World Tour status, and Lamprecht earning his PGA TOUR stripes.

For Lamprecht, the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open remains a special stop on his journey. “I think it helped that I had my family with me and I just treated it as a holiday week, which is easy to do in Mauritius,” he reflected. That relaxed mindset produced some of his best golf, and it’s a formula he won’t be changing.

This December, the fairways of La Réserve will once again play host to one of golf’s most picturesque events—where crystal-blue backdrops meet fierce competition. With Christo Lamprecht returning as a PGA TOUR player, fans can expect fireworks from a golfer who’s now as confident as he is capable.

The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open continues to thrive with the support of major partners including AfrAsia Bank, Heritage Resorts, ER Group, Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels, Heritage Villas Valriche, Mont Choisy Group, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), Range Rover, Emtel, Poncini, Mauritius Golf Federation, Phoenix Beverages, ticketbox.mu, DStv, C-Care, Mautourco, Ernie Els Wines, CBE, and Miko Coffee.

With Christo Lamprecht in the field, Mauritius won’t just be a paradise—it’ll be a proving ground.
