Pathways to Glory: International Series Philippines Opens the Door for Local Golfers

The International Series Philippines isn’t just another tournament on the Asian Tour calendar—it’s a golden ticket for the nation’s brightest golfing prospects to test their mettle against the world’s elite.

Through qualifiers, Order of Merit standings, and a sprinkling of invitations, Filipino players now have multiple routes to shine on one of the region’s biggest stages.

Next month, more than 20 local hopefuls will tee it up in the Asian Development Tour (ADT) Players Championship presented by The R&A, a 144-man shootout at Luisita Golf and Country Club in Tarlac City from 16–19 October. At stake? A coveted berth in the International Series Philippines.

And if fate deals the trophy to a foreign winner, the highest-finishing Filipino will still secure their ticket. With a US$100,000 purse and a chance to go toe-to-toe with international stars, it’s not just a tournament—it’s an audition for the global stage.

Local heroes in the making

To ensure the country’s finest are in the mix, five slots are reserved for the top names on the Philippine Golf Tour Order of Merit. With only the ICTSI Negros Occidental Classic left on the calendar, the battle for those final spots promises enough drama to rival a telenovela.

On top of that, presenting partner BingoPlus is tossing two wildcard invitations into the ring, opening doors for promising local players who might otherwise miss out.

Rahul Singh, Head of The International Series, summed up the spirit of the event: “The Philippines has an exciting pool of young golf talent. We saw that earlier this season on the ADT, where Aidric Chan and Carl Jano Corpus both claimed victories in Morocco to secure places in International Series Morocco. That was inspiring proof of how these pathways can change careers.

Our mission is to strengthen the game in the Philippines by creating direct routes into international tournaments, where local players can compete alongside and learn from the stars of LIV Golf and the Asian Tour. We are proud to make this pathway possible and look forward to seeing the performances of local talents in October.”

A chance to walk with giants

For the Asian Tour, this isn’t just a box-ticking exercise—it’s a statement of intent. Commissioner & CEO Cho Minn Thant added: “The tournament provides multiple pathways for homegrown players to reach the next level. The Philippines always produces great golfers and has a passion for golf, and initiatives like these help nurture and foster future growth.

With Miguel Tabuena already established as the country’s most successful Asian Tour professional, giving emerging talent the chance to compete in a major international event alongside their home hero will no doubt inspire the next generation.”

More than golf: a festival of sport and culture

The International Series Philippines will tee off from 23–26 October at Sta. Elena Golf Club, where the drama won’t end on the fairways. Expect headline concerts, live music, premium hospitality, gourmet dining, and enough fan experiences to make even the casual spectator feel like a VIP.

This isn’t just golf—it’s golf with a heartbeat, a spectacle where the nation’s rising stars get to step out of the shadows and, if they’re good enough, walk straight into the blinding light of international competition.
