The race between two men who came close to winning the 154^th Open last week will be decided tomorrow in what figures to be one of the best duels of the entire LIV Golf season. 

Going into the final round of LIV UK at JCB Golf and Country Club, Lucas Herbert (1^st; 20-under par) and Bryson DeChambeau (2^nd; 17-under par) will battle it out on Sunday to claim victory at JCB, one of LIV’s more prestigious and popular tournaments. 

Both men have had plenty of individual success this season, and will look to add to their personal accolades at the conclusion of tomorrow’s action.

Lucas Herbert, one of the surprise stars at Royal Birkdale who shot a major championship record-tying 62 and finished T6; 6-under par, has also won on the LIV Golf circuit this season with a dominant victory at LIV Virginia, hosted at Trump National.

Bryson DeChambeau recorded his best finish on the 2026 major championship circuit last week with an impressive T14; 4-under par finish that included some major controversy felt across the golfing world. DeChambeau has also won on LIV this season, twice at Singapore and South Africa, with both wins coming back in March. 

However, two challengers in hometown hero Tyrrell Hatton (3^rd; 15-under par) and Cam Smith (4^th; 14-under par) have emerged, and are looking to play spoiler to Herbert and DeChambeau.

While Saturday initially began as a two-man race, Legion XIII’s Tyrrell Hatton started the day with a bang, recording three birdies in the first four holes. Hatton recovered from some unlikely struggles as the Englishman proceeded to bogey two Par 5s.

Should Hatton be able to make a run, it would be his second victory of the season after winning the previous tournament at LIV Andalucia before The Open.

As good as Hatton was, nobody had a better Saturday than Cam Smith.

The Ripper captain came within one birdie of tying the professional golf birdie streak record after scoring on holes 10 – 17, culminating in a back nine of 28.

Smith’s performance was one of those moments that occurs twice or three times a season, and reminds us all of what Cam Smith is capable of. If Smith finishes tomorrow in the same manner he showed Saturday, it will be his best performance since his run at the PGA Championship at Aronimink earlier this season. 

On the team front, it’s no surprise that the men leading the individual race are also contributing heavily to putting their respective teams on the champions’ podium. 

Ripper captain Cam Smith was the biggest contributor to the team effort, and we discussed how Smith put his best foot forward and gave his club a comfortable lead after shooting a 66. 

• Ripper -1^st 41-under par
• Crushers – 2^nd 32-under par
• Legion XIII – 3^rd 29-under par

While it looks like it may be a runaway win for the all-Aussie Ripper squad, Jon Rahm and company will try to put as much pressure as they can on DeChambeau’s Crushers to steal away that second-place finish.
