Step Inside “Golf’s Most Beautiful Week” at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Golf fans, dust off your passports and your plus-fours — the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is back this December, and this year it comes with the kind of golden ticket Willy Wonka would’ve approved of.

From December 18–21, 2025, Heritage Resorts & Golf is throwing open the ropes at the spectacular La Réserve Golf Links, offering Pro-Am and VIP experiences that let you do more than just watch. You can live it.

La Réserve Golf Links, co-designed by 2010 Open champion Louis Oosthuizen and renowned architect Peter Matkovich, is the first and only contemporary links in the Indian Ocean.

Think panoramic views, rolling fairways, and enough wind to make a grown pro weep into his glove. It staged its first AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in 2023 and returns now as the backdrop for another week of drama — and maybe a few lost golf balls in paradise.

More than spectating

For 2025, Heritage Resorts & Golf is offering an unprecedented invitation: swap the spectator ropes for spikes and tee it up alongside the stars. The resort’s “Stay, Play & Live the Tournament” package includes a guaranteed spot in the prestigious Pro-Am, daily access to the VIP lounge, inside-the-ropes privileges, and even a private masterclass with Tour winners Marcel Siem or Nicolas Colsaerts.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for golf lovers,” said Raoul Maurel, Chief Operations Officer of Heritage Resorts & Golf. “Not only will you walk the same fairways as the stars, but you’ll actually tee it up in the Pro-Am, share inside-the-ropes access usually reserved for the professionals, and sit down with Tour winners and Heritage Resorts golf ambassadors Marcel Siem or Nicolas Colsaerts to uncover their secrets of success. It’s the ultimate immersion in the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.”

What’s in the bag (of perks)

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill golf break. The package covers a seven-night stay across Heritage Le Telfair, Heritage The Villas, or Heritage Awali, with unlimited golf at the iconic Le Château Golf Course thrown in.

There’s also a warm-up session with the resort’s Coach Ambassador, a “Play-a-Pro” Monday round at La Réserve Golf Links, and an invitation to the official Pro-Am Dinner and Prizegiving Ceremony. In short: it’s as close as you’ll get to life on Tour without having to worry about missing the cut.

A tournament with local heart

Since teeing off in 2015, the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open has grown into more than just another DP World Tour stop.

Working hand-in-hand with the Mauritius Golf Federation, the event offers local professionals a chance to compete against the world’s best and sparks inspiration for the next generation through its annual junior clinic.

“Heritage Golf Club has become the beating heart of golf in Mauritius,” added Maurel. “With La Réserve Golf Links and Le Château Golf Course, we offer golfers two very different championship experiences within the same resort.

Le Château is a beautifully manicured course: mature trees, undulating landscapes and carefully curated fairways. La Réserve, on the other hand, is beauty of another kind: raw, dramatic, and second to none — a course that promises pure golfing drama.

Hosting the ABMO here is about more than sport – it’s about showcasing Mauritius as a true golfing destination.”

How to get involved

For those who’d rather watch the pros sweat than swing a club themselves, other packages are available, offering different levels of access to “Golf’s Most Beautiful Week.” Full details are available at Heritage Resorts & Golf’s official site.

One thing is certain: the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open isn’t just a tournament. It’s an invitation to step into golf’s postcard paradise — and for a lucky few, to play it too.
