Muslim Golf Association Brings Race to Makkah to TPC Sawgrass

The Muslim Golf Association is about to make history on American soil, and it couldn’t have chosen a grander stage than the iconic TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course.

From 19–21 September 2025, the inaugural Race to Makkah: USA Championship, presented by Azzad Asset Management, will tee off in Florida — and if the sold-out signs are anything to go by, it’s already a roaring success.

In less than six weeks, every spot was snapped up, proof that faith-sensitive, inclusive golf isn’t just a niche experiment but one of the fastest-growing movements in the sport.

This three-day championship will see 52 players jetting in from across North America — California, Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans, and beyond — all chasing glory across three handicap divisions. The prize? Champions will punch their ticket to the MGA World Final at Royal Greens Golf Club in Saudi Arabia in 2026, with all expenses paid.

“TPC Sawgrass is one of the most celebrated venues in world golf, and now it becomes a stage for new stories to be written,” said Amir Malik, Founder & CEO of the MGA.

“This event shows that Muslim golfers are not simply joining the global game – we are shaping its next chapter. To bring our movement here is both a message and a milestone: Muslim golfers are ready to compete, to lead, and to be recognised on the world stage.”

Breaking New Ground in the U.S.

This isn’t the Muslim Golf Association’s first dance in America. In 2024, it partnered with the LPGA Foundation at the LPGA Founders Cup in New Jersey, giving newcomers a genuine way into the game. More recently, the MGA put its stamp on the PIF Global Series in London and Houston, where more than 400 women and girls were introduced to golf through its inclusive Get into Golf sessions.

And the MGA isn’t stopping at one headline event. With grassroots programmes set to launch in U.S. cities, starting in Chicago, the focus will fall on opening doors for Muslim women, juniors, and individuals with disabilities. If golf has sometimes been seen as a closed shop, the MGA is quietly knocking the walls down.

Faith, Fairways, and the Future

Delivered in partnership with Azzad Asset Management, the TPC Network, and Marriott International, the Sawgrass championship blends big-time tournament standards with the MGA’s trademark respect for cultural and faith-sensitive needs. It’s elite competition without the exclusion, and it’s striking a chord.

The sold-out debut at one of golf’s most iconic venues leaves little doubt: the sport’s future isn’t just about birdies and bogeys — it’s about belonging.

The Muslim Golf Association has made it clear it isn’t here to merely take part. It’s here to lead a movement, one fairway at a time.
