PIF London Championship: Five Iron Golf Opens in City

The PIF London Championship returns to Centurion Club from 6–9 August 2026, but this year its reach will extend beyond the ropes and into the City of London, where Five Iron Golf has opened its first UK flagship at Broadgate.

The connection brings together two very different interpretations of the same sport. One involves 120 Ladies European Tour players, tournament pressure and a course in St Albans. The other offers TrackMan simulators, professional coaching and the civilised prospect of reaching the bar without trudging through a bunker.

Together, they illustrate how golf is attempting to become more visible, accessible and playable throughout the year.

When and Where Is the PIF London Championship 2026?

The PIF London Championship is scheduled to take place at Centurion Club in St Albans from Thursday 6 August to Sunday 9 August 2026. The Ladies European Tour event is expected to feature a field of 120 players, while Five Iron Golf’s new Broadgate venue will provide a central London base for associated activity before the tournament.

The championship is part of the PIF Global Series and forms a significant element of Golf Saudi’s investment in women’s professional golf.

Centurion Club remains the competitive stage. The newly opened Five Iron Golf venue, meanwhile, is designed to carry some of that tournament interest into a setting that does not require a handicap certificate, a set of waterproofs or half a day set aside for 18 holes.

Five Iron Golf Opens Its First UK Flagship

Five Iron Golf’s London venue is located at 1 Finsbury Avenue, Broadgate, close to Liverpool Street station.

The site contains eight golf simulators powered by TrackMan technology, providing virtual access to more than 440 courses. It also offers professional instruction, hospitality areas for private and corporate functions, and a full-service bar and kitchen.

The venue is currently operating in a soft-launch phase, with preview events and advance bookings taking place before a planned official opening in September.

Founded in New York in 2017, Five Iron Golf has built its model around urban locations where people can practise, take lessons or play socially without travelling to a conventional course. Its London arrival follows the opening of a Five Iron flagship at the PIF Tower in Riyadh earlier in 2026.

London is an obvious test of the concept. There is no shortage of golfers in the capital, but there is a fairly conspicuous shortage of spare land, free afternoons and reliable sunshine.

How the Broadgate Venue Connects With the Championship

The new venue is intended to act as a bridge between the elite competition of the PIF London Championship and more informal participation in the sport.

Tournament golf can occasionally feel remote to those who have never played. It has its own vocabulary, etiquette and peculiar collection of trousers. A city-centre simulator venue removes several of those barriers. Clubs can be provided, sessions can be shorter and the weather is largely reduced to something happening outside the window.

Five Iron Golf also gives tournament partners, spectators and media another setting in which to engage with the event before play begins at Centurion Club.

That pathway is central to the wider proposition. A spectator may first encounter the sport through the championship, try a simulator in Broadgate and then decide to take a lesson or visit an outdoor course. Equally, an experienced golfer can use the venue for practice when time, darkness or London drizzle makes the traditional version impractical.

A Different Entry Point for Women and New Golfers

The link with a Ladies European Tour event gives the London opening particular relevance for women’s golf.

Visibility at the professional level matters, but participation also depends on convenient places to begin. Traditional clubs can be intimidating to newcomers, especially when the first visit appears to involve unfamiliar rules, expensive equipment and an audience of people who have been doing it since childhood.

An indoor venue cannot replace outdoor golf, nor is it trying to. It offers a less formal entry point: book a bay, borrow equipment, receive coaching and discover whether repeatedly attempting to hit a small white ball is a source of joy, fury or—most commonly—a brisk mixture of both.

The Broadgate site can also serve people who already play but want focused practice. TrackMan systems provide shot data that can help golfers and coaches examine factors such as ball speed, launch, distance and shot shape. The technology is serious, even when the person using it has ordered chips.

Golf Saudi’s Wider PIF Global Series Strategy

The PIF London Championship sits within the PIF Global Series, through which Golf Saudi supports professional events and broader participation initiatives.

The Five Iron openings in Riyadh and London reflect an effort to create golf venues in major commercial centres rather than relying solely on traditional clubs and resorts. That approach places the sport in front of people where they already work, socialise and spend their leisure time.

For Golf Saudi, the arrangement also provides continuity beyond tournament week. A professional event arrives, produces four days of competition and departs. A permanent venue can continue introducing people to the sport throughout the year.

The success of that ambition will depend less on corporate language than on whether people return after their first session. Golf has never lacked grand strategies. The difficult part is persuading someone to pick up a club, enjoy the experience and come back for another go.
