The Old Guard Returns: Majesticks Re-Sign Poulter & Westwood

Majesticks GC have decided that, in a sport forever chasing the next shiny thing, there’s still no substitute for two old hands who know exactly where the pressure lives. British icons Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood have officially re-signed as Co-Captains for the 2026 LIV Golf season, with Laurie Canter joining the team as the new addition.

This isn’t a ceremonial tip of the cap. These two were foundational in the creation and evolution of Majesticks Golf Club, and the message is plain: keep the standards high, keep the identity intact, and give the next chapter some proper backbone.

Between them, Westwood and Poulter bring more than 60 years of combined professional experience. Their careers include dozens of victories on the global stage, and Majesticks Golf Club say both players have been instrumental in shaping the team’s “identity, standards, culture, and global profile” — the sort of stuff that doesn’t show up on a highlights reel, but tends to decide who actually wins things.

Two captains, two styles — one agenda

Westwood has long been the calm, clinical presence — the kind of player who looks like he’s reading a newspaper while everyone else is wrestling a bear. Poulter, by contrast, has never met a moment he didn’t want to stare down, talk to, and then out-compete in public. Contrasting. Complementary. Exactly the point.

“I’ve been part of Majesticks Golf Club from day one, and am excited to continue on that journey as a player and Co-Captain,” said Poulter. “What we’ve built here, both on and off the course is special, with a clear long-term vision.

LIV Golf has changed the game in ways that excite both players and fans, and being part of that evolution has been incredible. Re-signing for 2026 is an easy decision for me. I’m as motivated as ever, and I can’t wait to help drive this team forward into the 2026 season.”

Team Principal James Dunkley added: “Ian is a hugely important part of this team. He sets standards, inspires everyone around him, and brings a level of energy and passion that instils belief in us all. His influence, both competitively and culturally, is enormous, and having both him and Lee back for 2026 is a major boost.”

“Ian brings a unique skillset and personality to the sport,” said Co-Team Principal Oliver Banks. “He’s a leader, an innovator, and a personality who embodies what Majesticks Golf Club is about. His connection with fans, his passion, and commitment to pushing the sport forward make him invaluable.”

Westwood stays the course — and Majesticks GC keep their compass

Widely regarded as one of the sport’s most consistent performers, Westwood’s résumé reads like a long-haul career done the hard way: more than three decades of elite experience, multiple international victories, and a former World No.1 tag. Majesticks Golf Club are betting that composure and competitive resilience don’t expire.

“It’s fantastic to continue this journey with Majesticks GC,” said Westwood. “What we’ve built together over the last few years has been incredibly rewarding, and the progression we’re making as a team and as part of LIV Golf is nothing short of incredible. I’m committed to helping push us forward in 2026 and contributing in every way I can, both as a player and a leader.”

Team Principal James Dunkley commented: “Lee’s influence runs deep through this organisation. His leadership style is measured and insightful, and brings immense experience to the team, helping to drive our standards. Having one of the best players in the game back for 2026 strengthens our foundation for the season ahead.”

“Lee is integral to the Majesticks identity,” added Oliver Banks, Co-Team Principal. “He brings authenticity, knowledge and a strong sense of purpose to everything he does. His presence is felt throughout the team, and we’re delighted to continue building with him as we pursue our aspirations.”

The new piece: Laurie Canter arrives as Majesticks GC look ahead

If Poulter and Westwood represent the roots, Canter is the growth. Majesticks GC are pitching 2026 as a “new chapter with renewed ambition,” and adding a fresh face alongside two established co-captains is a clear attempt to sharpen the competitive edge without losing the soul of the thing.

Call it modern team building with a traditional spine: keep the leaders who set the tone, then add talent that can benefit from that structure — and, ideally, help move the whole operation up the board.
