If you thought the USA’s Ryder Cup golf shoes were just a patriotic fashion statement, think again. PUMA Golf has turned J.J. Spaun’s footwear into a walking autobiography, rolling out three custom pairs of IGNITE ELEVATE Tour shoes designed exclusively for the Team USA rookie ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Forget your standard stars-and-stripes slap-ons. These shoes are half West Coast surf, half East Coast grit, with just enough flair to make you wonder if Spaun’s caddie will need a stylist’s license to lace them up. “Proud to represent Team USA, Spaun asked PUMA Golf to design a fresh, patriotic look that also tells his life story,” the brand said in announcing the lineup.
Bi-Coastal Brilliance on Each Foot

The left shoe is a postcard from California, Spaun’s home turf. Ocean-inspired blue accents ripple through the design, the state bear lounges on the tongue tab with a surfboard, and stars from the Los Angeles city seal twinkle on the heel.
The right shoe, meanwhile, is pure New York—host city of this year’s Ryder Cup—featuring “Big Apple”-red accents, a Statue of Liberty torch perched proudly on the tongue, and bold stripes across the back.
Then there are the Easter eggs only Spaun could demand: a silhouette of himself sinking a U.S. Open-winning putt (dream big, right?) tucked into the sockliner, Confucius’ wisdom marching across the soles, and his family’s initials stitched in like a lucky charm.
Three Versions, One Statement

Because one custom design isn’t nearly enough for Ryder Cup week, PUMA whipped up three variations of the shoe:
- Version 1: A gradient PUMA logo—blue on the left, red-to-yellow on the right—with Spaun’s family initials inside the tongue.
- Version 2: Bold saddle and heel blocks—blue/white on the left, red/white on the right—finished with a clean white PUMA logo and family initials tucked beneath the heel.
- Version 3: A splash of metallic flair with gold logos, back-painted heel clips (blue left, red right), and those symbolic bear and torch icons gleaming from the tongue.
One-of-a-kind doesn’t even cover it. These Ryder Cup golf shoes are strictly for Spaun’s feet—no retail release, no knock-off versions, no chance you’ll find them on the discount rack at your local pro shop.
Ready for the Big Stage
Spaun will debut his custom kicks when the Ryder Cup tees off on Friday, September 26.
And whether or not he drains the winning putt, he’ll at least look like a man with both coasts and an entire country strapped to his feet.
