By the time Rory McIlroy strolls back onto the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates this November, the desert sun won’t be the only thing burning.
The Northern Irishman is chasing history again—defending his DP World Tour Championship title from November 13-16 while aiming for an unprecedented fourth straight Race to Dubai victory.
Fresh off a season that saw him finally complete golf’s Grand Slam with a Green Jacket, McIlroy’s 2024 campaign in Dubai was nothing short of a masterclass. Cool as the ice in his post-round G&T, he dismantled the Earth Course to claim his third DP World Tour Championship and tie Seve Ballesteros’ record of six Race to Dubai titles. Only Colin Montgomerie sits ahead of him now, two titles clear, and McIlroy looks in no mood to stop chasing.

“Dubai has always been a special place for me,” McIlroy said. “Winning both the DP World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai last year was an incredible way to finish the season.
To equal Seve’s record made it even more special. I’ve played some great golf this year and I’m looking forward to finishing strong again in front of the fans at Jumeirah Golf Estates.”
It’s not just nostalgia driving McIlroy back to the UAE. This season, he’s racked up enough air miles to make a pilot blush, but the results speak for themselves: victory at Augusta National, fourth at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, a runner-up at the Genesis Scottish Open, and a top-10 at The Open in Portrush. Those finishes have him leading the Race to Dubai standings ahead of Tyrrell Hatton by 1,109.51 points.
The UAE Double-Header
Before Dubai, McIlroy will tee it up in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship—the opening act of the DP World Tour Play-Offs. From there, the top 50 players will battle it out in Dubai to crown the season champion.
Given his track record—wins in 2012, 2015, and 2024, plus four other Dubai titles—calling McIlroy a favourite is like calling the desert a bit warm.
Fans, Freebies, and Fairways
To mark 100 days to go, WHOOP—Official Supplier of the DP World Tour Championship—is offering every ticket buyer a free one-month membership trial of its performance-tracking wearable.
Considering the last record weekend crowd, organisers are expecting another sell-out. Free general admission tickets are up for grabs on Thursday and Friday, and early birds can save up to 40% on weekend and premium options before September.
Away from the fairways, the Championship Village will once again serve up more than just golf. We’re talking kids’ activities, free lessons, Ladies Day, trick-shot shows, giant screens, and sports zones.
Those with loftier tastes can spring for the Championship Chalet overlooking the 18th, or the Earth Lounge by the 16th. Ticket+ holders get prime viewing on the 17th green with shaded seating and priority drinks service.
History Beckons
If Rory McIlroy pulls it off, he’ll walk away with a seventh Harry Vardon Trophy, another DP World Tour Championship, and a place even deeper in the game’s record books.
And in true McIlroy style, he’ll probably do it with a smile, a swagger, and the ability to make one of the world’s toughest golf courses look like a Sunday afternoon knockabout.
For tickets and premium packages, visit dpwtc.com—and try not to blink. With McIlroy in this kind of mood, the show in Dubai could be over before you’ve finished your first pint in the Earth Lounge.
