Fairmont St Andrews Goes Blue with Smurfs-Themed Staycation Experience

In a cinematic collision of cobalt and clout, Fairmont St Andrews—the plush five-star retreat nestled along Scotland’s rugged east coast—has turned its storied links into a Smurf-studded playground.

And no, you haven’t had too many drams of single malt. This is real.

As the new Smurfs movie prepares to hit UK cinemas on 18 July 2025, Fairmont St Andrews is celebrating in flamboyant fashion with a summer-long campaign that blends golf, gourmet, and good old-fashioned nostalgia.

From the first tee to the final course (we’re talking dessert, not golf), it’s an immersive escape where blue rules the day—and quite possibly the dress code.

The Torrance Course, typically the domain of serious swings and windswept rounds, now shares billing with a fantasy-fueled experience for families.

We’re talking Smurf-themed activity trails, creatively curated cuisine, and enough sapphire-coloured snacks to make Papa Smurf blush.

And just to really drive the point home: Smurfette and No Name Smurf—yes, that’s his actual name—checked into the resort and were spotted teeing off in fine form.

Their presence alone confirmed what we all suspected: even pint-sized, animated legends can’t resist a Scottish staycation when it comes with five-star service and sea views.

“It’s not every day you see Smurfette strolling into reception,” one guest joked. “She’s got a hell of a swing, mind you.”

But this wasn’t just a weekend for the animated elite. The celebrity crowd turned out in full force to christen the festivities. Sightings included Countdown’s Rachel Riley with partner Pasha Kovalev, pop prince Aston Merrygold and wife Sarah, reality favourites Nathan Massey & Cara Delahoyde-Massey, Strictly stars Nadiya Bychkova and Neil Jones, EastEnders couple James and Victoria Bye, Love Island’s Chyna Mills, and culinary standout Sandro Farmhouse.

The mood? Whimsical, with just the right splash of glam.

While golf purists may raise an eyebrow at blue-hued cupcakes on the putting green, there’s no denying the resort’s masterstroke here.

It’s family-friendly escapism layered atop luxury, designed to lure a new generation of guests without alienating the old guard. And if it takes a few cartoon legends to make that happen? So be it.

One thing’s certain: Fairmont St Andrews just served up a summer event that’s as bold as it is blue.
