Norwegian star Viktor Hovland is set to bring his trademark grin, laser irons, and ice-cold putting stroke to South Africa for the first time this December. The 27-year-old will make his debut at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player, held at the legendary Gary Player Country Club from December 4–7, 2025.
Hovland arrives in Sun City with the swagger of a man who’s already written himself into European golf folklore. Next week, he’ll line up for his third consecutive Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, where Team Europe will try to cling to the trophy they wrestled away from the Americans two years ago. It was there in Rome that Hovland and fellow Scandinavian Ludvig Åberg dismantled World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and five-time major winner Brooks Koepka by a jaw-dropping 9&7. It was the golfing equivalent of a Viking raid.
Currently ranked World No. 11, Hovland has a CV that would make most golfers choke on their Pro V1s. He became the first Norwegian to win on both the DP World Tour and the PGA TOUR, scooped the 2023 FedExCup, and notched his 11th worldwide title at this year’s Valspar Championship in Florida.
“I’m excited to tee it up at the Nedbank Golf Challenge for the first time this December,” said Hovland. “I’ve had a lot of cool experiences at DP World Tour events around the world, and I’m looking forward to adding this one to the list.
“It’s an event that has a lot of history, a great list of winners and, of course, in honour of Gary Player, so I’m sure it will be a great week.”
More Than Just Golf
The Nedbank Golf Challenge is no dusty relic of the European calendar—it’s a spectacle. Once again, fans will have access to the Hospitali-TEE Lounge, a hospitality experience that sounds more like a five-star resort than a golf tournament.
Think unlimited premium bar, gourmet buffet, a merchandise voucher, a ringside seat on the 18th green VIP grandstand, and even a photo with the trophy. Toss in live entertainment, daily prizes, and the chance to snag a player autograph, and you’re not just watching golf—you’re living it.
The lounge itself is a plush, air-conditioned hideaway close to the public village, complete with indoor and outdoor seating and a live TV feed. It’s the perfect setup for anyone who wants the roars of the fairways without breaking a sweat under the African sun.
