Billy Horschel and Atlanta Drive Look to Stay Perfect Against Wyndham Clark and The Bay Golf Club

Billy Horschel and the defending champion Atlanta Drive look to start the season 2 – 0 against X and The Bay Golf Club.

Horschel and Atlanta pulled off another improbable victory in walk-off fashion against Xander Schauffele’s New York Golf Club. The fact that Atlanta was down multiple starters didn’t seem to bother Horschel one bit as substitute players Corey Connors and Chris Gotterup performed admirably and were both huge contributors to Atlanta’s eventual victory.

Last season The Bay Golf Club went 4 – 1 in match play behind Wyndham Clark’s league-leading 26 total points won. The near-perfect record included a 6 – 5 win against Atlanta on February 17, 2025.

The victory put Wyndham Clark’s dominance on full display. The former U.S. Open winner took two points against Patrick Cantlay to seal the deal for The Bay. The match also served as Min Woo Lee’s TGL debut.

Tuesday, The Bay will be featuring three of four regular starters who will look to make up for the mistakes of last season’s playoffs and make a push for the coveted SoFi Cup.

Atlanta Drive

  1. Billy Horschel
  2. Patrick Cantlay
  3. Chris Gotterup

The Bay Golf Club

  1. Wyndham Clark
  2. Ludvig Aberg
  3. Shane Lowry

Horschel is making an early case for league MVP and making the most memorable moments in league history.

This matchup will feature two of the league’s best in what could be a potential preview of the Season 2 Finals.

New Team-Specific Unique Holes

  1. Baybreaker (The Bay Golf Club); Par 5; 579 Yards; Hole 4

The brand new Baybreaker will feature Shane Lowry hitting driver on a hole that rewards boldness. With the Golden Gate Bridge adorning the background, Baybreaker’s island green is reachable in two only for teams who can pinpoint lengthy approach shots. Last season, Wyndham Clark hit an improbable bunker shot on the island – setting his team up to steal a point away from Atlanta.

Projected Top Performers

Atlanta

Nobody in the league answers the call to pressure better than Billy Horschel. When faced with a game-altering putt that has virtually no chance of going in, Horschel is your guy.

T1 for Singles Points Won and T2 in Total Points Won (one behind Boston Common’s Michael Thorbjornsen), Horschel has shown time and time again that he can be counted on to rack up points for his team.

Patrick Cantlay ended the 2025 PGA Tour season on a high note, coming in second place in the FedExCup, and playing a big part in Team USA’s would-be comeback in The Ryder Cup.

Cantlay is projected to contribute around 4 points in Match 3, equal to similarly skilled players such as Justin Rose and Keegan Bradley who both scored four in the BOS-LA matchup.

The Bay

Wyndham Clark was a points machine last year, leading the league with 26 total points.

Clark has proven that virtual golf hits his style of play to perfection and there’s little reason to expect a Season 2 drop off.

Shane Lowry, one of the most accomplished golfers in teams’ format, had an excellent Season 1, T4 in total points scored with 18. For whatever reason if Clark is unable to score at last season’s pace, expect Lowry to step in and lead The Bay to victory.

Final Predictions

In our preseason rankings we projected The Bay Golf Club as the number one team to beat in TGL Season 2.

Betting against Atlanta is an unwise endeavor, but The Bay truly feels like one of the most well-built clubs in TGL and has the capability to put out sustained success.

The best matchup we’ve seen in TGL this season, this one should be close in the same manner of last year’s 6 – 5 BAY win.
