And finish strong he must. Rory currently leads the Race to Dubai standings by a narrow 1,109.51-point margin over Tyrrell Hatton — a man who swings like he’s been personally insulted by every flagstick on the course.
The DP World Tour Championship will cap off what’s already been a glittering 2025 season for McIlroy. He finally completed his elusive career Grand Slam at Augusta in April, a victory so overdue it felt biblical.
Throw in a fourth-place at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, runner-up at the Genesis Scottish Open, and a tidy T7 at Royal Portrush — and it’s no surprise he’s booked in for both UAE legs of the Tour finale.
Dubai, it seems, isn’t just another stop on the map for Rory. “Dubai has always been a special place for me,” he added. “Winning both the DP World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai last year was an incredible way to finish the season. To equal Seve’s record made it even more special.”
