Laurie Canter Is Back: Majesticks GC Land a 2026 LIV Golf Heavyweight

Laurie Canter has never been one to chase noise, but Majesticks GC have decided to make plenty of it by bringing the Englishman back into the LIV Golf fold for 2026. For a league forever reinventing itself, the signing of Laurie Canter is the kind of move that signals intent rather than sentiment.

At 36, Canter arrives with the air of a man who’s been through the grind, sharpened by setbacks, and hardened by the quiet, lonely hours of trying to make a living out of hitting a golf ball straighter than the next fellow. He’s consistent, precise, resilient — and exactly the sort of player a founding team leans on when it wants to stop “competing” and start “contending”.

Majesticks GC, already one of LIV’s more established outfits, didn’t just sign a player; they signed a statement.

Canter turned pro back in 2011, and anyone who’s followed him across the DP World Tour and various global stops will know the man doesn’t flinch. Multiple big-time finishes, a deep understanding of his own game, and a modern, analytical outlook have made him a quietly dangerous presence on leaderboards. Now ranked 60th in the world, he returns to LIV with something he didn’t have before: a winning pedigree.

His breakthrough came at The European Open in 2024, quickly followed by the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship in 2025. Throw in a 7th-place finish on the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai, and you’ve got a golfer who’s clearly in the form — and the frame of mind — to take on a new challenge.

“Joining Majesticks GC is an incredible opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one,” said Canter. “The league’s growth has been remarkable and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour.

To return to the league with Majesticks GC is a huge honour, and they bring a standard of excellence, ambition, and identity that really resonates with me. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to what this team is building.”

In short, the man’s here for business.

Team Principals James Dunkley and Oliver Banks weren’t shy about their enthusiasm either. They’ve clearly been waiting for their moment.

“Laurie is an extremely strong competitor who elevates everyone around him,” said Dunkley. “His dedication to preparation, his professionalism, and the consistency he’s shown at the highest levels make him a perfect match for what we’re building. We’ve been a huge admirer of Laurie for a long time, and the timing for 2026 couldn’t be better.”

Banks’ take backed that up with a nod to the bigger picture.

“Beyond his talent, Laurie brings a mindset and personality that align with our long-term vision for the Majesticks. He connects with fans, brings humility and hunger, and he represents the modern direction of our team. We believe he’s going to thrive in this environment and help push us toward the results we’re determined to achieve.”

Majesticks GC have made no secret of their desire to mix performance with personality — culture, identity, and global relevance, all tied up in one sharp-edged package. Canter fits neatly into that mould, giving the team more firepower and a clear identity heading into 2026.

He’ll kick off his campaign from 4–7 February at LIV Golf Riyadh presented by ROSHN Group, the league’s season-opening event. With the Majesticks now running on renewed energy and the steady heartbeat of a proven competitor, they start the year looking like a team ready to cause trouble at every stop.
