Luxury Pods, Hot Tubs and Golf: Murrayshall Country Estate’s £30m Scottish Makeover

If you thought Scottish golf resorts had already perfected the art of pampering, think again. Murrayshall Country Estate, just a pitching wedge from Perth, has rolled out the first phase of its £30 million reinvention—and it comes shaped like pods. Luxury pods, to be exact.

After five years of planning, plotting, and presumably more than a few drams of whisky, the estate has unveiled a cluster of bespoke accommodation pods designed to elevate the “stay and play” experience into something far more memorable than a tired B&B with floral curtains.

These pods aren’t the drafty huts you’d expect to find huddled by a loch. The two-bed versions sleep four golfers comfortably and even come with a hot tub—because nothing says post-round therapy quite like a good soak and a glass of something strong. Throw in Murrayshall’s dining options and outdoor pursuits, and you’ve got a recipe for weekends where nobody dares complain about the weather.

Set across 365 acres of Perthshire’s finest scenery, the pods have been crafted to melt into their surroundings while still serving up modern comforts—underfloor heating, air conditioning, smart TVs, and private outdoor terraces. Think Highland tranquillity meets sleek Scandinavian design.

“The pods have been five years in the making and represent a significant step forward for Murrayshall,” said Gary Silcock, General Manager at Murrayshall Country Estate. “They give golfers and leisure guests a completely new way to experience the estate, while increasing our accommodation capacity by 50%. That expansion not only strengthens our hospitality offering but also creates valuable employment opportunities for the local community.

Guests can now choose between three distinct experiences: elegant rooms in the main house, suites in Balvaird House, and our new luxury pods,” he added.

The new additions aren’t just about extra beds. They complement the estate’s existing 40 rooms and suites while giving guests a greater sense of seclusion, privacy, and connection to the land that’s been shaping Murrayshall’s character for more than four centuries.

It’s also another feather in the estate’s well-worn golfing cap. Already climbing the rankings in Golf World and National Club Golfer’s Top 100 GB&I Golf Resorts lists, Murrayshall Country Estate is doubling down on its bid to be Scotland’s premier playground for both golfers and leisure seekers.

And this is only the beginning. On the horizon: a high-tech driving range, 25 holiday lodges, and a sprawling 27,000-square-foot spa and leisure complex that will make weary golfers wonder why they ever bothered heading home in the first place.

With a £30 million vision and momentum firmly on its side, Murrayshall is reshaping not just its own future but also what countryside hospitality in Scotland can look like. And if these pods are the opening act, the encore promises to be spectacular.
