Previously on TGL, Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common put the absolute smackdown on The Bay in a 9 – 1 thrashing. The result tied for the second-worst points differential in TGL history, the first being Los Angeles defeating Jupiter Links 12 – 1 on January 14, 2025.
On Monday, Jupiter looks to avoid another embarrassing defeat against the world-beating Atlanta Drive who looks to keep their season perfect and go up 3 – 0 – 0.
Recent Sony Open in Hawaii winner Chris Gotterup gets a third straight start for the undefeated Atlanta Drive who can punch their ticket to another playoff berth with a win Monday night!
Team Lineups
Atlanta Drive
- Billy Horschel
- Lucas Glover
- Chris Gotterup
Jupiter Links
- Akshay Bhatia
- Kevin Kisner
- Max Homa
TGL fans will be treated their first view of Lucas Glover for Season 2 as the 2009 U.S. Open winner joins TGL action for his first match of the season.
While Glover joins an overpowering championship Atlanta squad looking to keep their perfect record intact, Akshay Bhatia will be looked upon once again as the potential savior for Jupiter Links, though the new signee has floundered through his first two TGL appearances.
Noticeably absent is Tom Kim who misses his third straight start, meaning he will miss 60% of the season at the very least.
Projected Top Performers
Atlanta Drive
There aren’t too many better in the league than Billy Horschel, but Chris Gotterup is certainly making his case for league MVP as the later gets his third straight substitute start. Gotterup and Horschel are tied in points with (9) won, with the later playing one less hole on the season
Lucas Glover makes his first TGL appearance of season two. The veteran member sat out last year’s playoffs in favor of the eventual champion trio of Thomas-Horschel-Cantlay.
Glover has not participated in any pro golf tournaments since last season’s BMW Championship at Caves Valley. Despite the rust that is sure to come with his debut, Atlanta has little reason to worry as The Drive looks nearly unstoppable and will arguably be going up against their easiest matchup of the season.
Jupiter Links
Facing a potential 0 – 3 – 0 record, someone, anyone, needs to step up for Jupiter. Who is up to the challenge?
Akshay Bhatia, who for all intents and purposes is serving as a permanent replacement for Tiger Woods this season, has failed to provide the much-needed spark that Jupiter was seeking. In fact, Bhatia has the least number of points (4) despite the most holes played (21) for Jupiter Links.
In desperate need of reinforcements, Tom Kim’s continued absence will certainly be felt and will almost assuredly spark questions about his team membership status for the remainder of the season and full time playing status for 2027 and beyond.
Final Predictions
Though the results may not be as one-sided as the Boston – Bay matchup, we fully expect Atlanta to make short work of the Tiger-less Jupiter Links and send the later to their third consecutive loss.
This matchup is the perfect opportunity to get Lucas Glover back into the groove of things as Horschel and Gotterup can provide enough firepower to carry Atlanta to a relatively easy victory.
Going down 0 – 3 – 0 would most likely spell doom for Jupiter’s season. A healthy Tiger Woods in 2027 would be a nice addition, but Jupiter’s failings during Season 2 will likely open the door regarding conversations about player movement and team makeup.
Monday night should serve as a statement game for Atlanta with the Drive’s performance insinuating– we can beat anyone, and we can beat you badly.
